Stewart is the #8 overall pick with Ginn as the #30 overall pick. The deadline to sign is friday and neither have signed yet. Both are Pitchers.

MLB is reporting that Stewart is having a dispute with the Braves involving a signing bonus. He wants in the neighborhood of 5 million but the Braves are looking at 4 million. Apparently there are injury concerns from the Braves standpoint.

MLB is also reporting that the Dodgers are going to have trouble keeping their salary cap by signing their 1st and 2nd round picks to their slot value. At this point the Dodgers are probably going to pour their money on either Ginn or the 2nd round guy. The article also mentions that Ginn would be eligible for the MLB draft following his sophmore season rather than after his junior year. The slot value for Ginn is 2.75 Million.

My prediction is that neither come to State. I think the statistic is that in the last 10 years, 2% of High Schoolers drafted in the 1st round go to college. If I were to pick between the two I think Ginn is more likely to come to State. But I would still be very surprised if he came. I don't see any chance Stewart comes. And I obviously would be floored if both came.

I think it would be a pretty big deal for Lemonis if one of these guys comes to college. He could put his "recruiting hype" talk into action. Would've been nice to have locked up an incredible pitching coach by now so we could convince both to stay. But as I said in the other thread, I don't expect a big time pitching coach and I don't expect either to sign here. I guess I'm very negative about baseball rn. I'm just trying to be real haha.

Word is that Carter Stewart will go JUCO if he doesn’t sign so that he’s eligible for the draft next season. Ginn is a matter of if the Dodgers meet his number, said to be $3MM. He’s much more likely because playing for State is his dream. But if he gets his number, he’ll take the money. But the Dodgers are in a strapped position currently. I’d bank on just Ginn if any. Fingers crossed.

Actually a tad more than $3 Million, and I've heard that he wants them to say no because he wants to come to school.

Going JUCO seems really odd and not a good idea. But what do I know. I'd either go with the Braves or sign with State if I was him.

The thought is that he’ll be drafted equally as high next year without the injury concern. It would be a bold move, but I wouldn’t expect him to ever step foot on campus.

The competition he would play in JUCO imo would hurt him compared to even the competition he played in HS for someone who is drafted as high as him.

You are certainly correct about that move being bold. The highest JUCO pick in this year's draft was picked 61st. 2 players from JUCO were taken in the 1st 4 rounds. If he goes JUCO. I can almost make it a certainty that his draft stock drops from Top 10 pick.

I would love to have either but they would be fools to throw that many pitches for free considering their arm is worth millions as is.

Me too. That's unreal. Big for us. But that's a big time win for Lemonis.

I've been expecting Ginn to come to State. The real surprise will be if Stewart comes to State. That would be awesome!

JT making to campus improves our odds significantly on a return trip to Omaha. If Stewart makes it also we should be in the talk for top 3 squad in the country.

I like the chances a lot better. His family is a State family.

With less than 2 hours to go, the only question seems to be whether Stewart goes to JUCO or comes to Mississippi State. Most of the Braves and MLB media do not expect him to sign. However they all seem split on whether he goes to JUCO or to Mississippi State.
