Tired of Preseason Talk. I am ready to discuss week 1, despite the opponent.

Here is a preview:

Stephen F Austin University is located in Nacogdoches Texas, the university has two main rivals with Northwestern State(we played this team in 2015) and Sam Houston State. The Rivalry with Northwestern State features the largest trophy in college football, Chief Caddo. They play in the SOuthland Conference in FCS Football which features teams from Louisiana and Texas along with the University of Central Arkansas.

The university recently fired head coach Clint Conque for a violation of university policy. Conque finished with a losing record the previous 3 season at Stephen F Austin. Under Conque, here is how the university has fared against the FBS:
2014 at Kansas State: L 16-55
2015 at TCU L 7-70
2016 at Texas Tech L 17-69
2017 at SMU L 14-58

Stephen F Austin is projected to finish 6th in their conference. Jake Blumrick returns as the starting qb. Jeff Byrd will be the interim HC.

I could go into stats, but since they are projected to be a bottom tier Southland team, I think it is a matter of figuring out how bad State wins. Should be a good game. State needs to score over 50 and allow less than 10 points. But I mean the score doesn't really matter if it isn't close.

But most importantly I see $6 tickets. This should be an easy sellout with it being Labor Day Weekend, Night Game, and Moorhead's debut. Let's do it! Hail State

Obviously as you said this should get ugly fast. I don't think it will show us much as to how good we are/will be, but a couple of things I'm looking for:

1. It will be interesting to see how Moorhead uses the younger guys. Obviously the new redshirt rule changes things, but looking forward to seeing who has earned playing time.

2. Looking at the roster compared to last year, based on weights listed appears some guys have had some fairly significant changes. Can't wait to see how much faster some guys are and how much stronger others who have put on weight appear to be. Saw the picture of Simmons on the hailstate site and he looks a whole lot leaner. Some of it is just the angle on the photo, but he is listed as 300 lbs. Found a roster online from the media guide from last year that had him at 307.

I'm as a excited as a 6 year old boy, on Christmas Eve, waiting on Saint Nick FitzGerald to deliver the goods.

Can't sleep for the las' 72 hours, no appetite... an' that's just for tomorrows three TV games...

3 TVs & DVR all 3.

DVR set for all the good games next weekend.

Kansas State is espn3; no live broadcast.

My DVR is set for the following games:

Ole Miss vs Texas Tech
Auburn vs Washington
Boise State @ Troy
Stephen F Austin @ Mississippi State
Alabama vs Louisville

Since I will be at the State game I have to record the others. Luckily I will be able to watch the Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday Games.

College Football starts today actually. Catch Wyoming at New Mexico State at 9pm on ESPN2 if you have missed it. Hawaii at Colorado State at 6 pm ct if you have CBS Sports Network. I do not think Duquense @ UMass or Prairie View @ Rice are televised. But God bless ya if you want to watch either of those games.

The games weren't too great. New Mexico State was awful. The real weekend will be better
