My guess is that we have already hired someone or we couldn't hit Schloss's price target, and he gave one of those "I am really happy here" announcements.

Did some wealthy TCU grad(s) open their checkbooks suddenly? They have had no real notable baseball success outside of his tenure. I would imagine some boosters got involved.

I don’t remember where I read it, maybe from Gene? Paul? that there was a slight hesitation on our part to some personal issues Schloss might have. Not that we wouldn’t have made an offer notwithstanding, but I think that, coupled with our team still playing made Schloss stay at TCU. I think he wanted to get it done quickly or not come.

There was a poster on ED the other day who said he knew a player on the team and he said that they were told our Coach was in the SEC and had just won their regional. At that time, the only two who had already advanced were Dave Van Horn and Butch Thompson. He then said that he didn't know if this player was full of crap or was telling the truth- so take it FWIW.
Personally, I'd offer Tadlock, then Butch, and if they both say no- I'd promote Gautreau to HC and hire an elite Pitching Coach.
