I think people tend to forget that this isn't a business, it's an athletic program for a government university.

Yeah OK.

whole thing is that sometimes there are things far more important than money.

With a "business", name them.

I was going to ask Allyn to go in half for a loft but it looks like a no go from the get go. Hell, I was even thinking about picking up 2/3 of it as long as he brought the "models" in for game days.

Speaking of Aggies, they kept the cost low on their new stadium by selling naming rights to Bluebell.

Why can't we do that?

Oh it's beyond that. State is setting a trend and simple minded folks are bitching b/c they cannot grasp the big picture.

Why? If you (as in fans) can't afford a simple chair back then you (as in fans) should not be a fan or supporter of our program.

This is the dumbest shite I've read on here since darkhorse's last post whatever that was.

Because we actually have a baseball tradition with naming rights already taken by our programs greats.

So we're willing to sell out on some traditions and not others...good to know.

Leave the lounges alone. Most of those people have been there supporting this program from the left field back when it was just pulling up trucks behind the fence. They are the backbone of the fanbase for baseball, they have raised their families out there. Those people were here way before and will continue to be there far after.

That's cool and all but I would guess most of them find it worth 5-10k a year to keep their spot. I really don't care that they've been paying like 200 dollars a year to keep it for 20 years, there are a ton of fans who would gladly lay down the cash and use the spots just as much if not more. I'm not saying break people's pockets, but at least set a price point where it's not worth paying the cash to keep it even if you aren't using it every week.

Also, increasing the price would cause more average fans to pool on single lounges, which gets more people in LFL.

One you suggest is completely doing away with a tradition. The other is not. I don't see how you think they are the same.

I have no problem calling it Lee's Pork Rind Park at Polk-Dement stadium at Dudy Noble field.

I disagree. I think 2k is a fair price with them having the first option. Most of those guys come out, cook even on the midweek games.

There is a point where atmosphere overrides potential profit.

This happened at the Hump when the student section was split up to give way to premium seating.

I think everything is priced fairly at the Dude, besides the lofts and those aren't for the common man so get as much as you can on them.

I agree that we should have them priced to where those guys will stay, but I also think they need to be expensive enough that the ones who don't come will rethink keeping their slot.

What I was getting at was the slippery slope, if we're gonna sell out why not sell out full bore? This new stadium is about money.

If the lounge marginalization, pricey chairback seating, and lofts built only for the rich and powerful are on the table then why isn't naming rights? We could be bigger and better, perhaps more moderately priced seating options if we sell it all. No, I'd rather keep all the traditions intact, but I don't have a say.

Bottom line for me is that I want butts in the seats over something that the average family cannot afford.

I agree with this sentiment. Butts in the seats.

That's absolutely ridiculous.

There will be plenty of butts in the seats, they just won't be yours apparently.
