Yeah, the guy we faced on Friday - Null is a guy that could start for SEC teams.

We need to realize that was a team that finished 39-20(23-7) last year that won the SoCon by 4.5 games over some pretty decent baseball competition. Finished with an RPI of 55 and was one of the first teams on the wrong side of the bubble for the regionals since they lost their conference tournament. In other words, according to RPI, they were already slightly better than Central Arkansas in the regular season last year.

They brought back all 8 position players, some depth, and a ton of pitching. Basically everything from last year. Highly likely they end up being a top 50 RPI team this year and could end up pushing the top 30-35. We went 30-20 against that split last year.

That said, Woodruff and Lindgren have to perform better...and we have to quit striking out so much... But I'll chalk that to opening weekend jitters against a team way better than what we thought we would be playing and move on.

Is it safe to consider Woodruff a loss at this point? I mean, when was the last time we saw meaning full innings from him?

No.

His stuff was back. The umpire was squeezing the shite out of him early Friday night and he responded badly to it. No need to analyze beyond that. He has been lights out in virtually every scrimmage game since the fall. He will figure it out and be OK IMO.

That's the first time I recall that a "control" problem has manifested itself for Woody in his career. Even last year when his arm was killing him and he was throwing beach balls up there @ 82MPH in the Governor's Cup, he was still pounding the zone...

Uck Yaw, I can ask the question if I want to.

Thanks to Engie for the explanation.
