Is this why Travis Daniels is not playing? Ray cited wanting to be fair. Seems like the same situation.

I've been screaming this since before he committed. If anyone would actually go look at his highlights he gets a lot of transition dunks, or outmuscles and out heights people under the rim. He doesn't have any highlights driving or shooting,
And a 6'5 post guy is next to useless in college. If he could shoot or drive he'd have stolen some of Tevin Moore's minutes, but we're never gonna rely on him on the boards or in the paint.

Ray/Daniels didn't want to waste a year of eligibility on only playing after Christmas, thus giving him only 1.5 years of total eligibility for us. Instead, they are giving him the redshirt -- and then 2 full years after this season.
It's almost like Ray has evaluated that this is a second rebuilding year and is stacking the deck toward trying to make a run over the next two years when he will start really being judged administratively.
To me, it's almost like he sold this team short on the front end -- because IMO we're only a couple of pieces away. We seem to be middle of the pack as it is -- with 2 nearly fatal shortcomings that we seem to be overcoming somewhat by totally busting our arse on the court.

If that's true, that makes me feel terrible for Borchert.

I know. Ray said, by doing this, he's being fair. It's pretty much the same situation with Bear. He's knows his career ahead is football, so he's trying to be fair to Bear.

Why?
If we're being honest here, if it were not for us rebuilding he would have never gotten a scholarship anyway...

The Mr. Basketball of the great state of Alabama can't shoot, dribble, or pass?
I'm just telling you what I saw with my own two eyes. If you can find any highlights of him please post. I cannot find any high light videos. Isn't it a bit strange that a Mr. Basketball has 0 highlight films? I have literally found two clips of him dunking and that's it.

How many games did you watch?

I'm not saying you're wrong or anything. Just saying wowjustwow and are you sure. That's always been the feeling I got, but I didn't think it would be that bad.

A report from the Nike Invitational in Decatur, GA.
DeRunnya Wilson, Wenonah: As great at Coleman was, Wilson was one of the best storylines of the entire tournament. I’m a big fan of how well players rebound and truth be told, I don’t know that last time I’ve seen a guy rebound like Wilson did against Columbia. In basketball, there are few true stars and more players that shine in a specific area. Wilson will be the energy guy, the guy that crashes the boards and the guy that gives you quality minutes. I saw him a lot in the spring and summer and where he is now outside of grassroots basketball is an entirely different player. Twenty-two rebounds in a game will certainly grab some attention.
The guy must hustle his arse off on the court. I really dislike Dennis Rodman, but his motor never quit when there was a ball in play. Some guys just play bigger than they are.

Well, we went from saying Wilson's career isn't in basketball to comparing him to Rodma in here. I like the speculation, and you're spot on with this spot report here.. What if Wilson is being held out so he doesn't leave in 2 years?
If he was the best storyline around that invitational it would be possible.

I am only speculating that he might have the same "that is my basketball" attitude that Rodman had.

we do need rebounding help

I know you wern't comparing him to Rodman, just saying he may be held out this year due to similar rebuilding moves by Ray..
-He is standoutish good
- Mullen dosen't care if he plays
- Basketball was a huge deal in his recruitment and obviously his favorite sport. It isn't as big a deal as football to everyone but him..
- Ray needs the help, but Wilson has yet to play
Why else would he not have hit the floor yet? There's a bigger reason than football and we all know he could do more right now than just contribute..

BBall team is just missing talent. Shooting and rebounding, two things that are harder to teach than most other things BBall related.

This
No need to waste Daniels- keep him for the next 2 years
He doesnt think Wilson can give us enough to warrant the time he would have to spend with him getting him ready to play a little.

because of feeling from those that watched him play last winter didnt think he was even close to being an SEC basketball player

Don't you think if DeRunnya Wilson was gonna be half the basketball player Dennis Rodman was he would have played against OM with all of the trouble we had giving up offensive boards?

A) The frick?
B) Basketball shape is different from football shape.
C) We actually run plays and have responsibilities on defense these days. There is a learning curve.
D) We beat Ole Miss at home if they have Hendo or not or if we have Wilson or not. Ray thought there was no hurry to rush him along.
