About as brilliant as judging Bumphis on our quarterback play, Wells after playing one season as a back-up, or Russell after not starting a full season.

not at all- but as you will see here in a few weeks- your QB play greatly affects your WR's numbers- no matter how good he is

and shite happens- we had 3 starters on our OL hurt in the 1st 9 quarters of the season- then Relf cracked some ribs, and Russell hurt his knee.

Last season was worst case scenario for us. Dont count on that happening again

so what about the rest of the season when Ralf had crappy numbers against anyone with a half-assed defense?

You know he broke his ribs at the Auburn game and played through it right?

It wasnt just half-assed defenses- he got pulled vs UAB. He was hurt and never got any confidence going. Getting beat up like we did at beginning changed our entire season. It happens every year to teams out there.

It was very disappointing, but when you look at what happened- we actually did a good job of getting to 7 wins last year

Merlin's must either be one shitty coach to make a player play through broken ribs the entire season or Russell just flat out sucks against any team not named Memphis.

Russell missed a couple of games due to injury- Relf was able to tough it out thru his for the most part

You do realize the only reason I threw them in was because he was claiming Carlton Martin (1 season as backup), Carlos Thompson (1 season backup), Mackey (played half of 1 season), etc have underachieved.

But Moncrief did have about 100 more yards than Bumphis had his freshmen year with Stoudt as QB for half the season and our horrible OL.

I would say a combo of Mackey and Stoudt is better than Tyson Lee. From a raw Passing TD to INT standpoint OM had a 9-13 ratio and MSU in 09 had a 9-17 ratio.

Mackey was a 4* JUCO QB that had to be redshirted and hasn't done anything since. Was bad in year 4 and became a rb/wr in year 5. That's a huge underachievement.

Carlos Thompson was a 4* HS DE that is entering his junior year and wasn't good enough to start on one of the worst DL in the SEC in either of his first 2 seasons. He has gotten time in 11 games for a total of 1 sack, his ONLY career tackle. He's not even on your current depth chart. That's the process of busting.

Carlton Martin was a 4* HS DT that is entering his RSso year. As a RS FR, he played in 11 games, starting 2, and got 7 tackles, 0tfl, 0sack. Listed as backup NT to a SR. I'll give you that it was too early for me to call him a bust.

Mackey only played in 6 games last season.

Mackey's Stats(6 games):
77/155 for 1112yds 7tds 5ints
83 carries 180 yds 1td

Tyler Russell's Stats(8 games):
69/129 for 1034yds 8tds 4ints
33 carries 45 yds 1td

Mackey and Russell's stats are pretty damn close for this past year with Mackey having a much worse team to work with. With their stats being so close except Mackey having more yards, I assume that fantasy football guy would project Mackey to have thrown for 3000+ yards this season too had we kept him at QB.

Yes Mackey had to redshirt in 2010... because we had Jeremiah Masoli on the team for 1 season, what would you expect us to do??

With all the QBs learning a new system and Mackey being a senior it would make more sense to build the offense around the players that have 2 and 3 years left to play. Not to mention Mackey has been doing really good at RB so far.

Carlton Martin has played 1 season so you can't say he's a bust yet.

Thompson has yet to do anything yet, he should've been redshirted but we've had injuries to our DEs and our whole team could be doing better if we had a decent S&C coach.

RS JR with no returning QB ahead of him is not the same as a RS SO with a 5th yr returning starter that was lights out in his previous 14 games. Not the same situation at all.

Russell this year = Mackey last year. Want to lay odds on Russell destroying that production this year?

I don't know...maybe not bring in Masoli in the first place? Like the 119 other FBS teams didn't?

That whole process KILLED your team chemistry and player leadership. Was.Not.Worth.It. That should have been Nathan Stanley's team until he proved he couldn't cut it(which he never got the chance to do). If Stanley stays in, you beat JVSU by 30, and the past 2 seasons both take on an entirely different complexion.
