So, some conversation on the board last night about Danielson's comment about Stoops not having a signature win. What are your thoughts?

Yes, we are 7-4, but we lost two games we very easily should have won at home. And unless you could the UL win last year (not sure what UL was ranked at the time), what would you consider a signature win under the Stoops era?

I supposed the UL game should count, but other than that I can't think of a game that we won that we weren't expected to win, maybe SC this year, but it's not like they are all that good either. Thoughts?

Not sure he has one yet.

Problem with a "signature" win is you have to wait till the end of the season to really know. I was at that Alabama win in CWS when they carried off the goalposts but by seasons end that just was not a good Alabama team.

In the past 20 I think the LSU triple OT win in CWS was a real signature win as Tigers went on to play for the MNC.

Last year UL win would have looked good if they stayed undefeated or just one loss but they lost 3 in the regular season they got walloped in this bowl game against the Tigers. Don't get me wrong, a Line Beard win is a good win but in the national eye (like writers and poll voters) not sure it was a big a deal if they had not lost to Houston the week before.

I do think football schools do get a pass while non football schools like UK always have to go the extra mile to get the national love.

Louisville was ranked 11 IIRC and we may have kept them from going to a new years six bowl game. It also took us from a crap bowl to what was the gator bowl, a new years day game.
I would consider it a big win, if not a "signature" one. That's a win against a rival with a (then guaranteed future) heisman QB. After this I have no doubt motorcycle Bobby was pissed beyond belief. I'm kinda irritated that Gary wanted to ignore this game, as it was a big win, which is why I posted about it earlier.
South Carolina is a solid win this year as well, though not a signature one. They're ranked now and may upset Clemson.
As far as overall, he has not beaten Florida or Georgia (and God knows I wish we had beaten Florida and Ole Miss this year) but, he has managed to get a 4 game win streak against South Carolina, 3 against Mizzou, and he's beaten Vanderbilt, Tennesee, and Mississippi State on top of Louisville since he got here. He has been doing a very good job based on what we were when he got here and the fact that we are not known for being a football powerhouse. We could be in much worse shape.
Stoops has definitely made some questionable in game decisions (like not taking out the starters when Georgia pulled away). But we are getting closer to respectability and not being considered an automatic win by every school we play.
