That's right Nick Mingione and the Wildcats baseball team. Coming off a good offseason, the Cats appear at #8 in all of the major college baseball polls. Season starts Friday and am looking forward to discussing this team as the season goes.

Speaking of Mingione, I haven't been around to praise him. I have had the pleasure of speaking to him on a few occasions and the guy is just a wonderful human being. One that I think we can keep here as long as we want him. I know the kids there absolutely love him and he has breathed a breath of fresh air into a sleeping giant in SEC baseball.

so, were you banned or just took a break on your own. Either way, we need to post threads on this board, it's dead, and I gave up.

I was banned from this board in 2015. Took a break from the board after that. Other than horse racing posts on MSB, I stayed away. Anyways, it has been dead in here and with basketball not playing well, hell not even entertaining, I'm hoping that baseball will pull us out of this funk. I love Mingione and the direction he has set this program. The good news is that the team seems to really enjoy each other and are super talented. Play opens Friday, I think against Wofford, in South Carolina. They play four games down there against various teams. I'll start a thread later or just edit this one with schedules (actual/TV). I coached a freshman LHP that will be coming out of the bullpen this season. As Mike knows, I've been talking to him about this kid for 2 years. He has a ton of upside and hopefully won't get shelled and lose confidence. Mingione and Belanger decided to use him in the pen instead of weekday starting (in meaningless games) so he's going to be thrown right to the wolves. Should be a fun year to watch SEC baseball as the preseason polls have 5 teams ranked in top 10.

Yeah, I agree. Friend of mine got season tickets, I think $50/each.

He said he's hoping getting season tickets this year will get him some priority choice for tickets when the new stadium opens.

Would like to see at least some more posts on our board, I created some but not many post in here, so maybe we can make it happen.

50 Million to add what, 500 seats.

Used to be they took care of the Top 1,000 to 3,000 donors

These days it seems limited to just the Top 10 to Top 30

When I saw how many empty seats at the Louisville football game it seems we have passed "peak oil" so to speak and the cost is fast outstripping the live demand.

As the "Greatest Generation" is all but dead and the "Baby Boomers" are retiring south or entering nursing homes not sure where the next decade of overpriced "donations" will meet the failure rate but it will be to late for the management at the time to fix it then.

Problem with governments and churches is when they get so big they forget how to budget for the future thinking it will always increase. First thing you learn in farming is to save for the drought years.

Best success in the future is to get the kids when they are young to follow you so you have them when they grow up and have money.

Not sure how you experienced it growing up but a big part of UK sports was the folks you sat next to for a generation or two that was the backbone of the live game experience. Take that away and all thing crumble.

Our baseball stadium needed an upgrade. One of the worst set of facilities in SEC.
