The first practice report has officially been posted. Breaks down drills he uses to begin the year, talks about some pretty heavy competition at multiple spots, and gives tidbits on a few players.

Enjoy

ETA: I'm going to just make this a practice report thread since it looks like they're be releasing them pretty frequently. Here's report #2. Talks about the team scrimmaging and Poythress sitting out with injury today.

So if you had to guess the starting 5 to start the season, who you got Belle? I'm a big Cauley-Stein fan. Frankly, thought he showed as much or more heart than anyone going down the stretch. Randle. Do you think both Harrison?

Was good reading some hoops talk the other day. Something more than which kid is going where.

I think the Harrisons, Randle, and WCS are locks to be starters, but what will be interesting is who plays the 3 position.

I think you see both Harrisons at the 1 and 2, with Hawkins getting some PT in there at times. The 3, as RTR said, is a really interesting position because we have so many combo guys. You have Poythress who can play the 3, but James Young has some real talent. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Young beats him out OR if Poythress puts in time at both the 3 and the 4 this season. The 4 and 5 could be just as intriguing depending on what lineup they want to go with. I think Randle is a shoe-in for starter at the 4 but there's also the threat of foul trouble for an aggressive kid. You have Dakari Johnson in the mix in the post but he's a little more raw than some of the other guys IMO. You also have Marcus Lee who will contribute in the post as well. I agree that WCS is the starter at the 5, but there's some strong competition in the post.

This is probably the deepest we've been in awhile. You really can have a ton of combinations with those guys. It's crazy.

That's why I was asking. Admittedly not as up on them as UK fans but even I look at your roster and see so much dang talent I wouldn't even know where to start.

From the St. Louis Post Dispatch's Mizzou beat writer.

Cal apparently said today that he wouldn't be surprised if 7 different guys had 25 point games at some point during the season

The players have been raving about him as well. I really can't wait to see those guys play.
