As much as I like what he has done for UK overall, he has really not made good hires in the two revenue producing sports, but he can't be completely faulted for those.
Hiring Billy G was pretty inexcusable and shows that he did not background whatsoever in hiring him.
The botched coaching search after Guy Morriss was pretty bad too. It did eventually work out OK with Brooks, but the whole search was done poorly.
Promoting Joker, I think most fans thought that was a good idea at the time, it just didn't work out.
I also think most fans thought the Stoops hire was a good one, and I guess we have to see how this season pans out to know if we are going the right direction or not.
One thing I do believe about UK football is if we need to hire another coach, we can't do an assistant, and we need a highly regarded named coach.

If you are an AD you need to do national searches, with MB he just seems to hire folks from previous ties and stops.
Brooks came from Oregon ties
BCG came from TAMU ties
Stoops as much hired himself
DeMoss and Mitchell came from Tennessee ties
If UK is a Top 20 or Top 25 revenue producing school in the USA and is paying the AD 5 to 10 times what the last AD made, you should expect more for the massive salary increase.
