Let's Talk About The Origin of "Germans" as it Relates to Already Posted Topics

Thousands and thousands of German civilians were caught in fire fights and battles on the Eastern front because the Nazi news sources delayed news of advancing Russian armies.
It was common parlance for the Allied forces during and after the war to describe late news items as "German news." Ultimately, delayed news was shortened to being called "Germans."

I'd much rather debate why something that was born here and has become a trademark here on TD is so shunned by the admin.
I would also like to know why spelling it 1 letter at a time is worse than saying it all in a post.
I lol every time the letters make it to S.

Someone inevitably always breaks it up with something non-alphabetical yet when our boys still get to S despite all the noise it reminds me of storming the beaches of Normandy.

While all that may be true, it was started here because people responded to late news with the smart arse "Japanese Bomb Pearl Harbor". Eventually someone switched it to "Germans Bomb Pearl Harbor" in honor of Belushi's line in Animal House.

Do you realize how stupid that makes the "Germans" response to late threads?
Because a bunch of jackasses thinks it comes from a movie quote which makes no sense.
People can go on thinking it caught on here from Animal House but the "Germans" response to late news was already in existence well before posters on Tigerdroppings started using it.

And it doesn't really matter which explanation of "Germans" someone uses because they both mean something has already been posted.
However, the German's bombing of Pearl Harbor explanation is silly.
