I stayed up late last night/morning til 3 am watching replay and was able to discover a few nuggets:

If we are evaluating QBs....please be aware that when Treon finally steps in 2nd qt he had two true frosh OL line up in front of him...Grier did not (although he did have Fred Johnson later on in the game). Treon had Tyler Jordan and Johnson when he went in. Kinda unfair comparison...Jordan played two series I believe.

Watching replay....I am concerned about the ball security that Grier has shown. He has fumbled three times and recovered one. The fumble that occurred when Treon was in the game was caused by true frosh RB. Treon made a couple of throws that threaded the needle with zip...and he made 1 bad throw when pressured off his back foot...but it was toward the sidelines and away from defender. He also made smart play and threw a ball away to avoid sack.

DRob & our defense won this game. DRob made some clutch catches and also made tacklers miss him. ECU scored when they recovered fumble caused by RB and also had short field when they picked off pass that was not thrown badly...it hit Bailey in the hands as he was falling, richoted and never touch the ground.

ECU has a WR, Jones # 7 that was clutch and he continued to beat our coverages all night til 4th qt when we finally put two guys on him, Poole and Maye and refused to let him beat us. Their # 80 is a hoss at 6'6" and made some great grabs.

The officiating crew was not stellar and made some bad calls on both sides. We should have blown this one open with our defense and even our OL got decent push. RBs did only an adequate job. We need gamebreaker. I was a little disappointed with Trip Thurmans OL play...he is a senior and should lead the way. Didnt notice Halter at all, Fred Johnson is going to be huge for us in the future...our entire starting OL next year will be fun to watch.

I think agaisnt UK, Mac and Nuss should call a few deep shots early.

UK knows we have young QBs and a young OL. The OL at this point does a better job pass blocking than run blocking.

UK will stack the box and force us to beat them through the air.

Few shots early will force them to pull men out of the box and open up the running game.

I can predict this with 100% certainty: whichever team has the most rushing yds will win the game...period, exclamation point! The only way it wont happen is if we act like a Publix bakery and make a lot of turnovers and a bunch of flags are thrown on us.

We are a running team. Throwing deep is low percentage and if not completed...you then set the tone for 2nd and 3rd and long....then our QBs get blitzed heavily. The only way we should throw long is if we are past our 40 yd line...then if you have to punt...you can pin them back deep. You DO NOT want to come out on your 25 yd line...throw long pass incomplete...try to run and only pick up 2 or 3 yds...then be forced to throw again....incomplete and punt...do you know what the hell that will do for the UK fans? They will be jacked....thats what we dont need.

Of course...if long pass is completed...great but SEC secondaries are taught not to let WRs get behind them...thats why I laugh when I hear folks complain about DBs backed up. Look at ALL the SEC teams and you will see that....the worse thing you can do is have WR get pass you and get beat. Long passes arent easy to complete.

I'm not saying do strictly that. I'm saying do it a few times early with good field position to loosen up their defense.

Best player on offense was Goolsby followed by Robinson. Gool went off.

TEs McGee, Goolsby and Cyontai Lewis are all very capable targets.....but must block well to be on the field. McGee seems to be bigger and the more reliable blocker as part of bookend set. # 30 is a faster receiver and makes them pay if they have slow LBer on him.

We will need good blocking to get our yards rushing the ball. In my mind we need at least 150 yds of rushing to stand good chance of winning. Just look at boxscore on sunday to see which team ran better and theres your winner.

Would love to see that we only threw the ball 22 times or so...which would mean we played with a lead and also were able to run.
