That's awesome but you've also faced the two worst passing teams in the league in UK and MSU.

KY (Home Team) vs. MSST

Total Offense: 300

Total Defense: 201

UF (Away Team) vs. MSST

Total Offense: 357

Total Defense: 202

We had a bad game vs. Kentucky that grossly lopsided our rushing defense statistics. However, by the end of the year that game will more than likely be an outlier rather than something common.

As I said: The last three weeks teams have only averaged 113 rushing yards. So this complete garbage myth that you're making that teams are just rushing at will against us is just stupid.

They're averaging 182 in the air -- 44/91 (48%) and only averaging 113 on the ground.

If you want to live in the land of fairies and pretend like we haven't absolutely stonewalled the last three teams we've faced then by all means -- these games also weren't even close by the second half, so a lot of those stats are completely inflated by the other team, not by us.

Any Gator fan that doesn't understand how important Reese and CeCe are to our run defense and that those two astronomically improve it..

Well..

I don't think they watch the games honestly

Not just that, if the teams we faced were actually in the game (as in they weren't losing so badly) then we would have much better numbers. If we stayed playing 100% like we did against MSST, it's likely that CSU and Tennessee would have been just as unlucky. Both of those games were over in the third quarter.

Yep. I think our own fan base doesn't watch the games sadly. Then reads stats and assumes a lot

Very true. That game is an outlier that is skewing your stats just like their passing game is giving you guys a higher rating that it likely will be at by the end of the year. 3 of your next 4 games will give us a better indication of where your defense is at.

They're averaging 182 in the air -- 44/91 (48%) (Last three games, the FCS only had 3 yards of passing offense).

There's no way to slice it, we had three outstanding games of passing defense that led to the #2 passing defense in the country.

Fromm had 3 less passing touchdowns while having 4 more yards than Franks vs. Tennessee (and we were the Away team) and Burrow isn't lighting up anyone outside of Ole Miss, so I doubt that the passing statistics are going to change all too much.

Imagine if teams can't even pass against us when we have our backup BACKUP cornerback in the game.

We don't tend to be pass heavy but will take the routes given. Fromm is the second rated qb in the league in terms of efficiency. I was saying the next few games will give us a better idea of where your defense lies because they'll face 2 solid run teams and one great passing O.

I'm not taking anything away from your passing defense. It's been spot on from the numbers but we'll see how it carries through the season.

Using the S&P Advanced stats the SOG provided will give a another outlook on how things are on the season. It looks like it lowers UF's pass D while in increases the run D.

Franks only completed 9 passes.

We don't run into another pass heavy team (outside of Missouri) the entire season, it'll likely stay the same.

Rest of the season:

LSU
Vanderbilt
UGA
Missouri
South Carolina
Idaho
FSU.

The run defense will likely improve as time goes on outside of UGA and maybe LSU, but we have no idea if LSU is legit or just played overrated teams -- I actually lean more on the side of overrated for both Miami and Auburn, especially Auburn.

Peter, I am not worried about the butt sniffers right now, wait your turn and be afraid, very afraid. If we win Saturday and next week in Nashville, we are coming to Jax to beat that arse.

LSU is the toughest game we have this year, win it and we can beat anyone on our schedule.

Don't sell USC short and I think LSU has been getting some decent yards per game but that's probably inflated by playing 3 week passing D's.

It's still that point in the season where we're all trying to figure out who's legit and who's not. This weekend should tell us a little more about both of you.

I’m actually surprised that we’ve stayed on topic and the thread hasn’t been hijacked.

I hope we have corrected our tendency to give up the edge on running plays. Need to go back and look. The competition gets better every week. We will learn if the D and the O can still produce the same numbers. Baring injuries we will be consistent if not better.

Lets look at what we have seen...Played a cupcake, played a very very tough UK team that NO one in college football circles knew would be that good...and even then we kept it close score wise, played a so so Colorado St team...then we went on the road and beat the snot out of UT, a mediocre SEC team...then went to Starkvegas and faced a team and crowd DETERMINED to beat us...a very hostile environment to play in and we out coached, outplayed them with OUR own determination.

Which brings us to LSU in the Swamp...a hot day standing on the east sidelines...with UF ready to bring down the # 5 team and put our stamp on success. Media wont be able to ignore us after we win.

What I have seen is improvement across the board since Mullen has taken over and the one thing that people don't appreciate is the special teams. That alone can win close games. I would take our WRs over LSUs anyday and our RBs over theirs. I would take Franks over Burrow also...6'6" 240 and can throw the ball 65 yds in the air.

Franks is improving and the whole team is improving every game...give Pierce a chance in practice to learn the blocking schemes and he will play more and he may be the best true frosh skill player in the SEC before years end. Our skilled players vs LSUs? Duh.

LSU has a good DL & a very good LBer...well, MSU had a really good DL also. Our coaches will gameplan for their strength and neutralize it. My opinion is that by late 3rd qt the tigah DL will start to wear down from the pass rush they must employ and standing in the sun on the sidelines. LSU hates day games. This is when we will start getting a push from our OL and getting yds on the ground. The winner will be the team with the most rushing yds....as always.

I love that style of football. Ground and pound until you start getting the big runs in the 3rd and 4th quarter.
