I wasn't implying CK was an air raid coach...but Leach and others are. CK at Oregon used a spread offense and ran and used the pass to set up run and vice versa...but defenses in the Pac 12?
Watch Petrino and his UL offense...they totally confused the opposing DC with their schemes and will make them look helpless a lot. If Petrino had a SEC defense? Look out.

i don't doubt petrino or kiffin would light it up and probably win a natty at uf. just think there's too much baggage for stock strocklin to hire em.

NORVELL unfortunately I believe will be the next coach of Florida football and would be such a wasted hire
Would Stricklin talk to sumlin if aTm let's him go
I guess straws has some tears in his beers right about now

I’ll take Randy Shannon before Norvell.

I'm with you. I won't even watch football if we end up with Norvell.
Update, and this is really important:
Apparently the deal has soured with UCLA as well. It's rumored that the Gators caught on with Kelly trying to leverage UCLA and called his bluff today.
I have no idea how this will turn out, but the offer is on the table and it's apparent now that Kelly has no want or desire for UCLA per sources in UCLA.
They said that he ''didn't know if he wanted to coach'', that was the word on the UCLA boards.
There is still hope, and actually a good chance he wakes up tomorrow and comes to his goddamn senses that Stricklin was never going to give an inch to a basketball school.

I don't want a HC who doesn't want to coach. We already had that in 2010. You're nuts if you want Shannon. He's Mac with a face haircut. Average recruiter and coach. We may end up with him given Stricklin has dropped the ball and I won't watch a minute with him as the HC.

If we take Norvell we might as well quit. I'm not saying I want Shannon, but Norvell would be McElwain 2.0.
As for Chip Kelly:
I don't believe that he doesn't want to coach, he reached out to us and he wanted to coach. I think he had a big problem because he underestimated Florida. We want a great HC really badly, we need someone to come in and run our program with experience and offense to boot.
He underestimated how Scott Stricklin would literally walk away from the table and immediately look for other candidates. The contract is still there (according to all sources now), all he has to do is sign it. He definitely wants to coach, but he might have a hang up on numerous things that Florida isn't prepared to negotiate for because we've already been doing so.
UCLA is obviously a worse job than Florida at almost every level in almost every way -- their stadium was empty for their last game tonight. They literally don't care about their program.
That being said: Again, I think Chip Kelly will still be a Gator unless he hates his agent who is probably ripping his hair out right now.
He risked a Top-5 program that was willing to give him everything he asked for -- who knows?

frick em he had his chance. At this point he comes across as little bitch. Moving on...Scott Frost 2018
Posted on 11/25/17 at 2:04 am to Chad 23
Frost is actually our best chance to get him -- I can't believe Frost even talked to us, to be honest. Or at the very least heard us out. Of course, most coaches would, but it makes the noose a lot tighter for Kelly to hang himself.
If Florida tells him no, he will find it very, very hard to find a good deal. He officially fricked himself at two schools for trying to leverage them both against each other, they both caught on, and both are content to move on if need be.
As soon as UCLA said that ''he didn't know if he wanted to coach anymore'', I knew for a fact that we had won. I would still take him on, but he lost a lot of stock for being a whiny little scared bitch today.

Norvell is nothing like Mac. At all. He was a top flight OC, can recruit and he's 3-2 vs the top 25. He turned a kid who was doing construction work into a potential top draft pick. They also run completely different schemes.

Not gonna debate with you on why the HC from Memphis in his second year isn't like the HC from Colorado State HC in his third. Just not gonna do it, man.

Id rather Morris first but id gladly take Norvell

Not to bust bubbles Straw, but for all we know Stricklin just checked Kelly out as part of the search process and maybe nothing more. Something tells me Stricklin isn't in awe of ANYONE. For all we know Stricklin has already talked to agents of maybe eight to ten coaches and has been doing a lot of research on all of them.
Honestly Straw, I think you have hyped up Kelly way too much. He last coached college football in 2012. Recruits were 12 or 13 yrs old then...yet you think they would flock to UF because of his name? He coached in the fricking Pac 12 and enough said there. I just don't see the immediate success that you seem to think would happen. We need a coach who would BUST HIS arse and work hard and smart to get Gator fans back after seven years of mediocre-ish football.
This is just my .03 worth. I could be dead wrong and we hire Kelly and he sets the SEC on its rear end....that would be great, but I don't see it. Whoever our next HC is, he is inheriting a loaded roster and should have wins right out the gate, but afterwards?
I myself prefer someone who has recruited Florida, has experience in the SEC or the south, is driven to succeed and hates losing. Kiffin may be that person, his drawback is being basically single and ADs like a wife by the side of their coaches....but it could be overlooked because of the positives.
Frost is almost surely headed to Nebraska...where he won a NC as a QB, has family there and strong ties, plus a AD who he is friendly with. Nebraska just needs to fire their HC first and Iowa just put up 56 points on them.
Whoever is running the show at Arkansas is fricked up, you don't fire a HC minutes after a hard fought loss and just before he has to face the media in a presser. They couldn't wait a few hours? Sure he deserved to be fired, but not in that manner.
Coaching in the SEC is tough business. Mullen is safe at Miss State and could retire there. Saban is a god and safe for however many years he wants, Vandy wants graduation numbers instead of Ws. Everyone else? Its a fight to keep your job and raise your family. That's why salaries are high.

You don't send the people we sent to New Hampshire just to check the guy out. We sent them to close the deal. Apparently they did, but then he kept asking for more. Good business by him to a point, but now it's blowing up in his face.
Strange times.

Saw on twitter he was offered Saban like power over the team. If thats not good enough then he can kick rocks

I would take Norvell over Shannon or Mac. I think he would be an upgrade over what he have had this year but not much of a up grade .
