Like I said: I'll be worried if we don't name him before FSU. I knew it'd take longer than Monday. I wanted to believe, but I think he still has to take a look at UCLA.
I just don't think UCLA is going to be able to match us in many different things, but he still has to do what Matt Corral did on Saturday -- check it out, see what he has, and come to Florida.

#Gators AD Scott Stricklin: “There will probably be some more productive conversations in the days ahead. ...Lot of interest in the job.”
A tidbit when he got off the plane. To me it seems we may have missed on Chip and the more productive conversations are with plan b.

Looks like it's going to be a long disappointed week for the chipper fans

Yeah but most of that is ambiguous lawyer speak to keep us off the scent of what's going on. Chip Kelly will hear out UCLA and then come to Florida -- before Friday is my guess. If no we might as well move on, he's clearly got other priorities than winning football.
He could be successful at UCLA, but everyone knows that:
UCLA fans don't like football. Google ''UCLA Recruiting'' and basketball is #1.
UCLA's facilities are way behind.
UCLA has a huge buyout of their coach.
UCLA has never been relevant in football more than one year regarding championships/big bowls. (1998)
It's just not that great of a job, their fanbase doesn't care and they are going to spend a frickton of money to their last HC. I applaud them that they will try, but they are way behind on: Time, money, resources and prestige.

Also, don't listen to anyone talking about what day, time, contract signing. No one knows. N o. O n e.
Outside of the people who came home on that plane. I will say this: I think it's 98% that we still get Kelly, even if it's after than FSU -- if we're waiting to make the announcement to respect Shannon/Interim coaches, I totally understand.
But you guys need to relax and trust in some of the people who are deeply involved with the program. They know better than us.

Point blank lets just say it
UCLA is not a destination school. Period

Per UCLA fan:
''UCLA fan checking in. We have hardly any online presence or presence at games. We suffer from a malaise around our program after ~20 years of irrelevancy. Our facilities did just get massively upgraded though, and our recruiting has been roughly top 15 in the nation under Mora. That's one of the major arguments towards firing him, since our results haven't matched recruiting.''
They just don't care.
It's kind of like a mixture between Kentucky and SC. Their fans are around when they're good, but not like packing the seats holy shite I might scream with mirth before kickoff type of fans. They're a basketball school, and seriously:
If Kelly really wants to go hang out and glide about with a team that might be good that won't have the support of the fanbase (they pay for the new facilities that he's been asking for at Florida) then by all means -- let him go.

For the right person it may be. shite, Meyer at OSU as an example, sorta.
I do think UF is a better destination but that would be my opinion.
I’d consider a job with less pay if it wasn’t as physical as my current one.

OSU has nothing similiar to UCLA. OSU packs em in every saturday and travel in droves.

OSU
Is/Was actually relevant to football.
Since 1999:
UCLA has had 7 losing seasons -- in the same time we've had one. (It's possible if we win our bowl, we get a 6 - 6 season)
UCLA hasn't won their conference.
UCLA has won their division once and got beaten in the PAC championship game by Stanford.
In spite of their recruiting location, they don't ever seem to be able to even win their division, let alone their conference.
It's not that it's a bad job, it's that they've never been relevant in football and it just makes no sense to look at a team that can't win their division.
Since 1998:
UCLA has 1 Big Bowl, we have 7.
UCLA has 0 Conference Championships, we have 3 (in arguably the hardest conference around).
UCLA has 1 Division Championship, we have like 9? McElwain has more Division Championships than UCLA in the past two years than UCLA has in 20. Let that sink in.
It'd be like a head coach choosing South Carolina over Florida, it just makes no real sense.

Vegas odds on chip to UCLA have gone from +125 to even. Not good.

Very good. There's no betting on Chip to the Florida job because it's free money.
A lot of people will take that bet in the hopes of trying to cash in, and when they're wrong -- Vegas keeps what they betted.
If they let us bet on Florida, then we should be infinitely worried, but that line has been taken down because it's not a safe bet at all for Vegas.
EDIT:
Just for reference, Mullen was a favorite for us.
So was Frost.
Betting doesn't work the way you think it works.

They don't have current betting right now on the florida search because they already closed the betting for it.
That tweet about Jeff Fisher is from a radio guy out of St.Louis with 500 followers. Not buying it.

Finebaum on his show said he talks to kelly weekly and that he thinks he would prefer UCLA. when asked by the girl on the show if he knew something he said he will call her.

Why do you think they closed it?

Of course you're not. You don't want to believe the other guys with thousands more followers that Chip is to Florida but can dismiss a rumor because of the followers?
The betting closed down because Chip was so much a favorite that it was pointless to keep it up.
They're now cashing in on the media frenzy about Chip Kelly to UCLA. That Tweet has 15 likes, for what it's worth.

When you have conflicting reports from people with 1000's of followers saying deal is done or not done. Dan Patrick saying we missed our chance. Footballscoop and many other sites saying it's not done I'm skeptical. When they closed the bet Frost was the coach with the highest odds.
