It'll most likely be before -- it's only rare because most coaches are at a team currently and need to finish out their season.

Kelly won't care about that petty ESPN contract, trust me.

i totally think the deal will be done before then, just don't think it's announced until after fsu. officially anyway.

The difference is early enrollment. Before it really didn't matter, now it matters a lot. Especially this year. It's probably why they're trying to get him in quickly.

that would make sense. not sure how much it would matter. the initial buzz of kelly will get us some flips before dec. 20th i'm sure.

Just thought it was worth putting here.

He will 100% flip some players and get some commits from guys who had no want to do so before.

Not only that, we have so many young players doing well, and I'm sure in a Chip Kelly offense with more snaps we could convince a lot more to come. Even on the defense, they know they're going to be rotated a lot, many players will get the chance.

He will be hired sooner than later, if they wait on purpose it'll be a mistake. They need to shoot as soon as he says yes and let him start to recruit next year's class to get ahead of the eight ball.

@rtimjansen: Just confirmed Kelly is done deal just adding language to contract to protect NFL money. In addition, background checks on his assistants have to b approved b4 Kelly signs the deals. He also has language on his control of the team.

@rtimjansen: #kelly florida. Sources confirm Randy Shannon has been guaranteed a position at UF even if Kelly does not retain him as an Assistant coach. Very smart decision. Players really like him.

Personally, I love that Shannon is part of the team. Against UAB they looked the best they've looked all year, and that's without fricking 25 scholarship players. He's motivated, and the players seem to want to play for him. It took a few games, but we were in complete disarray there for a little bit.

I agree with the decision as well, keep him around in some capacity and still let Chip choose his guys.

It's coming boys. Prepare yourselves

Chip Kelly is coming to Florida. This isn't a smoke screen for Frost. I can confirm this, no this isn't #InsiderHeat but it's real sources not someone guessing

Shannon and Seider have got to stay on the team, though. He's been recruiting a lot of good players and the running backs -- ESPECIALLY his running backs look fricking fierce.

Thompson has come along, too. Damn near killed that kid yesterday.

Thompson runs hard, Perine is a good runner as well.

Lemons had a great game yesterday, had they not called his 60 yard run back on a BS hold he wouldve avg'd 12 ypc.

Now add Pierce, the backfield is stacked next yr

This guy's background would indicate that he may in fact have sources on the Kelly side of this equation - namely Kelly's agents.

Perine, Davis, Lemons and Pierce is scary. That's a hell of a backfield.

If we can hold this class together (Chip Kelly absolutely will), our offense is going to be very good. He's walking into a very favorable environment since most of our younger players are getting their lumps now rather than next year.
