The biggest growth I saw this game from Trask

Is insanely exciting.
Kyle forced balls to receivers he knew would win the battle. Grimes and Pitts got balls they were not open for quite a few times and Kyle trust them. That was a huge key for Burrow last year. Trask did not do this last year and that could be huge in big games.
Verse teams like Georgia receivers will not be wide open much. Him being able to throw people open and throw in coverage knowing our threats are taller and able to make plays makes the offense incredibly dangerous.
He did not make those double coverage passes to Pitts last year and convert them(he threw into coverage, but not accurately and high enough to let them make plays). Same with that beautiful come back route to Grimes for the TD.
We already knew he could dissect teams in the middle of the field. Now he has added the ability to dissect mismatches on the field and throw up accurate jumpballs as elite QBs do.
I know it is week 1 and it was Ole Miss, but this was something that can beat any defense if done properly. You can not defend a perfect pass.

I love Kyle, I made the first post dedicated to him in his recruitment when we took him on as a 2* and said that McElwain had stolen a great QB...
That being said, there's someone else I want to mention.
Kadarius Toney.
He finally looks like a real WR, he's finally running actual routes and it looks like Kyle has a real connection with him as well.
Let's also note:
We had 11 players with a reception.
With a further add-on:
The "Emory Jones will never start" campaign seems to have secured a victory yesterday.

Toney looked very impressive. All our receivers did. The drops were understandable. They hadn't had contact all offseason and Ole Miss did well at knocking them out. Hope to see more from Copeland next week though.

I don't look at the drops or interceptable passes with anything other than a brief "meh", those made up stats by PFF are just used to get controversy and clicks. If you throw it that many times, most of the time you are going to have two passes that could be picked off and several that will likely be dropped. They're just part of the offense.
KJ is being lauded but fumbled three times (lost two) and threw two picks. Just gotta have a QB who can go right back out and keep truckin'.

I'll take what Trask did over that any day. Trask had no turnovers and made the smart play a majority of the time. Really happy with his performance. Especially the trust he has. You can tell him and the receivers worked with each other a lot this offseason.

I think Mullen alluded to that as well, that Trask and the receivers were finally getting all of the time together.
Grimes...I'm kind of worried from time to time. Sometimes he seems great, but I'm just not seeing the same consistency. Shorter and Henderson are also both kinda "meh" blocking wise, but they'll get that I think.

I can understand new guys blocking woes. Not worried about that long term. I need to rewatch the game though too. I watched it with family so didnt really break down in my mind what I was seeing outside of the obvious things. I may skip the defense...that tape may be best to never watch again.

Happy to see him develop into a more complete player. Still disappointed that he's a walking unsportsmanlike penalty.

The offense was really good for dropping so many balls. Looked like the run blocking was much better.
Delance was pretty good.
Malik Davis is back to his pre injury form.
Toney had his best game.
Trent lived up to the hype about doing all the little things right.
Not sure which Kyle is better!

Let's not forget that cut by Wright. Dude broke a kids ankles on Ole Miss. I was not ready for that.

That was pretty good. Made the same move on three guys. Shoestring tackle by the third guy.
Pass pro by the RBs was pretty good too. They ran with good pad level into contact.

Miller played well. 10+ tackles and a sack. He was everywhere.
Carter, Slaton, and Cox had good games too.
We could not cover Moore all game long.

Moore showed our bad tackling issues. It is a theme under Mullen that we do not tackle well the first few weeks.
Think next offseason they need to figure that out. It cost us the UK game in 2018 and gave Miami big plays in 2019 and same with Ole Miss this year. Have to get guys ready to hit way sooner than we do at some point
