You know what fixes the defense being on the field all game?

Olem….its Straws being Straws...he thinks Franks lost the game and his chosen one Trask should have played....yeah right.
Our defense NEVER had a 3 and out the whole game..I cant remember a game when our defense couldn't get at least one damn 3 and out. That tells you all you need to know.
As bad as we looked, I am hoping the entire team is not ready to quit and instead of refocusing. This a wake up call and thank God we have an inferior team Colo State to play Saturday...even if they did beat arkie at home. Its a bit different playing in the Swamp in September than playing in Rocky Mountain High.
The main concern now is cornerback...we are razor thin now and need to have a player step up for us. CSU does have an offense that likes to throw the ball...so its a good test for the secondary. We have to run the damn ball and keep their offense on the bench.

Yeah. Franks was bad but the defense was worse. Uk had 150 yards rushing at half and uf had controlled the ball just fine on offense to that point.
They had seven points at half.
Again, it doesn't matter if you give up yards if you can't put up points.
Yeah, offensive line played poorly -- so did Kentucky's. It didn't stop their QB from making plays and getting them first downs they didn't deserve.
If we can't score points, it doesn't matter what the defense did. It's moot. 10 - 7 at half is inexcusable, less than 50% of completed passes is inexcusable. Missing a wide open Malik Davis in the end zone for an easy two point conversion is inexcusable.
You guys want to die on the Franks hill and say that the rest of the team is the problem -- by all means.
But I won't stomach watching this guy cosplay as a Quarterback anymore. He's shown multiple times to not have it, and every fricking game it's "oh well, if x unit had done y, or z unit".
Defense looked bad, offense couldn't even score 20 points when Central Michigan could. Get the frick out of here with this nonsense.

I think everyone on the team sucked last night straws. But the defense sucked worse than franks.

I go by points, go by whatever metric you want. If the defense can't expect more than 20 fricking points against Kentucky then we will never win a game.
Kentucky's Quarterback performed outstandingly well (in spite of turnovers) behind an equally poor passing offensive line (passing downs).
If we get a playmaker at QB, we'll be okay, but if we have a guy who can't pass or run we might as well fold up and call this year a mulligan.
And just in case you guys need some examples:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDENEDLFq_M
Kentucky's OL and their QB making plays:
0:12 - Scramble out of a pocket that lasted one second.
0:29 - Pressured but rolls out for TD pass.
2:01 - Scrambled out of a pocket that lasted one second.
2:20 - Pass with contact.
4:04 - Pressured out of pocket, rushes for first down.
4:40 - Flip fake, touchdown.
Those are just highlights, I'm sure I can find more.
Franks got his lunch eaten last night, and if we swapped Quarterbacks the game turns out way different.

The offense is certainly not good enough to cover up the flaws in this defense. My 7-5 projection looks ridiculously optimistic
Posted on 9/9/18 at 2:26 pm to slayerxing
Do you think if we swapped Quarterbacks it would be the same outcome? Does anyone here actually think that?
Defense is bad, but with good offenses it doesn't matter -- Oklahoma.

Straws, not any QB is going to look good when you cant establish a line of scrimmage and run the ball. We were one dimensional from the getgo. Study football. No QB can win without a run game to help. The QB for UK had PLENTY of run game and if you watch...the safeties came up to stop the damn run and got beat.
Get over it, Trask lost and Franks won the starting job. Trask out there and the score might have been worse pal. Franks was our leading rusher you nimwit.
You narrative is old and folks are laughing at you. Stop.

Well you better quit watching because he’ll be out QB unless he gets hurt.

I am literally going to quit watching until we put someone else in.
I won't watch the team eat shite week in and week out and lose close games because we're trotting out a fake QB every game instead of trying other options -- even if the options are less viable. We need a new start, and last night looked exactly like last year's Gators minus Del Rio.

Calm down fellas. This is not a quick fix

Frank's showed progress then did regress back. Though don't blame him for the multiple drops that stalled drives. Kid was getting swarmed because his Oline is absolutely garbage. Same is happening to an actually good QB at Fsu and he doesn't look good either. No Qb can look good with a bad offensive like and receivers that can't catch. Franks didn't lose this game. The whole team sucked

Devlin Hodges, Samford's QB (Division II, FCS) threw for 475 yards against Florida State and hit 65% of his passes. Our offense, with an actual QB, could make a difference.
We will never advance if we continue to just have piss poor QB play.
Keep in mind, Samford was the away team.

Straws you are insufferable. Blaming Franks for the loss? You are blind. He did some very good things and not so good things. As 2008 stated, you wont have a QB look terrific when there is zilch for run game and again Franks was the leading rusher. Trask would have fared worse. But instead of bashing Franks I suggest you contact Stricklin and Mullen immediately and apply for QB coach. Im sure they would welcome your advice.
You must have been jerking off after the game ready to blame Franks. What is wrong with you? Are your wires all messed up? Mullen knows a lot more than you Straws, so give it a rest for your own sanity and ours.

Here's the, cold, hard, in your face facts:
I'm tired of the defense having to hold the opposing team to two touchdowns for our offense to keep us in the game.
Who is mostly responsible for an offense being productive? Well I guess we could say the coach, but in the end, the guy taking the snaps, making the reads and distributing the ball is the one who needs to step up.
Franks has not, and will continue to not make plays when we need him to. Four quarters with ten points is beyond the offensive line, plenty of teams move the ball with piss poor offensive line play.
Samford's QB had no trouble nearly getting 500 yards by his fricking self against Florida State.
500 YARDS REEL.
Their line is comprised of no stars, D-I rejects, their QB was ranked 82, less than Kyle Trask.
So this idea that the QB is blameless is just so unbelievably stupid.
Franks' inept ability to distribute the ball and scramble effectively will continue our offensive woes because he is not a gamer. He is not a playmaker. In the areas he's terrible he has way too much confidence (making tight passes), and those he might actually be good at (running) he has no confidence.
We need a Quarterback is either a good runner or a good passer.
Franks is not either of those. He's a below average passer and an average runner -- and don't tell me he had the most yards the last game. If Perine was running first quarter, Perine would have crushed his number. shite, any of the RBs would have.
I'm just so tired of you guys tirelessly throwing yourself on the corpses of games lost by poor QB play.
TL;DR
The defense shouldn't have to hold every team below 14 points for our offense to have a chance.

I saw someone post that D gave up 8 yards a play. A PLAY.
Posted on 9/9/18 at 11:56 pm to dbuchanon
I saw some place where the opposing team only scored 21 points. Which means the defense stopped them from scoring.
They did their job, the offense did not do theirs, and the person making the decisions and passing played the worst out of them all.
At some point, we need to hold Franks accountable, if you guys are just unwilling to do so, fine. But we won't be winning UT, MSST, UGA, SCAR or Missouri. We won't bowl this season if he can't retool himself, and you can't expect a clean pocket every play in the SEC. He will have to learn how to be smarter and faster at processing the field.
So far, he hasn't, and it's yet another year where he doesn't look ready. Eventually, we have to come to the conclusion that the coaches are not failing him, he is failing his coaches.

How do you blame dropped passes on franks?
Posted on 9/10/18 at 8:39 am to finchmeister08
I just don't see why you get so mad at Franks when he got absolutely no fricking help from the worst OL I have ever seen and the defense is literally missing half of their attempted tackles and the DL is softer than puppy shite?
