Next year the QB situation will be a lot better this year unless we have some injuries. Franks has a lot of raw talent and it will be interesting to see what Mullen can do with him . I think Franks could have a decent year this year .

What I hope to see from Franks tonight against UK: not get too amped like he did the first series last week. Relax and let the game come to you. Use all the tools at your side.
And hopefully keep run plays to just a handful and not get hurt.
I want to see the OL push back the UK DL...which is pretty good and open up run lanes. Remember the winning team will have the most rushing yds at the end. Last year they outrushed us but left 2 WRs uncovered...cant expect that again. They also need to have good protection for Franks. At 6'6" he is able to see the field if given some time. Mullen will have a good plan for him Im sure. Just keep moving chains.

He is going to run. Mullen requires it of his QB and wants Frank's to run. So doubt we see him not move the ball on the ground. I'd expect 12-15 QB runs minimum from a Mullen game plan.

Nah, man. I'm checking out of the Franks' train. This isn't a heat of the moment type of deal just because he threw an interception at a crucial moment.
Look at his statistics as a Quarterback. Regardless of drops (he throws into contested/coverage a lot).
11-27, 147 YDS, 1 TD, 1 INT
We gotta try something new.

Lol at this thread.

I know this is going to sound ridiculous because the backup QB is always the most popular guy on a losing team.
But Trask simply makes better decisions, and if we don't go with Trask. Retool the offense to fit Toney, we have got to get a true dual-threat at QB. Franks will never be a QUarterback.
Ever. I'm tired of this shite.

The defense is a much bigger problem right now than qb. Ol is #2.

Can’t get off blocks. Can’t tackle. No push. Ugly.
Posted on 9/8/18 at 10:38 pm to olemc999
21 points is not insurmountable, if our defense can at least slow down the opposing offense (they can), then our offense should you know, be able to get at least 21 points in four quarters.
Samford, against FLorida State, an FCS vs. FBS has 23 points.
The offense is almost our entire problem. Defense did their job, and while it was ugly if we said "every team from hereon out can only score 21" we'd be happy.

Other teams won’t turn it over as bad as they did. They had 300+ rushing yards. I dont think the run d can be fixed.

You know what fixes the defense being on the field all game? Making first downs, scoring points, forcing the other team to make pace and make poor decisions.
Our defense will always look like shite if our offense can't move the ball and eat clock. We do not have a QB who can operate outside of that model.

Disagree hugely. Defense is a wet paper bag. Uk ran at will. UF was fricking fortunate to only give up 21 on offense.
Posted on 9/8/18 at 11:49 pm to slayerxing
Point is: They did their job, the offense did not. I wouldn't give 100% if the offense goes out there and shits the bed every single drive.
It was 10 - 7 going into half-time. We will never win games with Franks at QB, and we will never win games if we don't move the offense. They're allowed to run their offense exactly as they want to because our offense doesn't force them to pass to catch up.
Our offense in combination doesn't make first downs, we get fricked on defense, it's game over.

I'm calling bullshite Straws. Every facet of the team was exposed. If you can't admit that then you're blind. UK was probably 18 of 20 on 3rd down convertions. I got sick to my stomach watching them gash us with the run game. Up the middle or around the ends. Especially around the ends.
For the love of god don't be so stubborn.

It doesn't matter.
If our offense can't score more than 21 fricking points against a shitty team like Kentucky, it doesn't matter what our defense is doing. It just means we'll be beaten by more.
If our offense can't get the first downs, extend drives, keep our defense off the field, it's the same fricking thing. You guys can't be serious that one touchdown doesn't change this game. That's it.
But if we have a QB who can't see a goddamn FLAT ROUTE, we will never have a functioning offense.

fricking stop it Straws, you couldn't wait to bash Franks and if Mullen thought Trask would have been better he would have put him in there. You will have to come to grips with Franks is our damn QB. He didn't lose this game, the whole damn team did.
OL & DL surprised me...UK just ate our azz. Watch the fricking game Straws, UK was in the backfield all night and on defense their OL pushed us off the ball almost every snap. They must have rushed for about 300 yds. Put some damn glasses on. Franks wasn't blocking ole style, he wasn't dropping passes, he wasn't getting pushed back on the DL, he wasn't being out of position almost every snap at LB and he didn't play safety.
There were plenty of blame sandwiches for the whole team. One bright spot was # 11 Vosean Joseph, who made a lot of plays, even from the backside.

Yeah. Franks was bad but the defense was worse. Uk had 150 yards rushing at half and uf had controlled the ball just fine on offense to that point.

Franks was our leading rusher with 44 yds with a long run of 21 yds. Scarlett was pathetic, 25 yds on SEVEN carries. Perrine and Davis combined for 8 carries for 49 yds. Perrine had an average of 8.5 yds a carry. Scarlett should be shown the bench, he never ran hard or showed bursts in my opinion. Let RBs who are hungry ran the damn ball. We became one dimensional early on in the game.
On the other side of the ball our defense couldn't stop the UK's OL surge all night. Jackson & Joseph were our leading tacklers. We need Reese and CeCe Jefferson back.

The line play on both sides of the ball was the major creason for this loss. When a team gets whipped on both lines, they will lose. I am very concerned that our lines were overpowered. Kentucky will be nowhere near the best lines we will face this season.
