I’m in love with this team.

I mean seriously they just lost the shut out and went out there and said frick it we’re gonna get 2 points back.

Two blocked kicks? Man, oh man. No team will ever be able to sleep on us. 9+ wins this season, debate me.
Posted on 9/1/18 at 9:22 pm to olemc999
Yeah, everyone can definitely shut the frick up about starting him.

I’m starting to feel like Emory and maybe trask might transfer out. Especially if we get a 5 star coming in.

Trask for sure is gone next year unless Franks loses the job, Emory'll wait.
Jalon is going to win the starting job, though, so it's all moot beyond two years.

Don't give up on Jones that quick. Had nerves first game and the back ups. I suspect a lot from him with Brian and Mullen coaching him up. Has the natural gifts and Dan can coach up a QB with natural gifts.
Now...Bring on Kentucky. After this game I'm feeling really, really good going into this next game.

I have watched three of our next opponents and UK, Colo State & UT should be Ws. Ut is void of real talent on OL & DL...even though they shouldn't be. Pruitt has his work cut out for him. I was surprised at WVs defense and how they manhandled UTs OL.
UKs back up QB may be better than Wilson...lets see if he makes a lot of nervous mistakes in the Swamp. They will be aiming to erase the drought against us...but hopefully after we punch them in the nose a few times they fade. Our defense should eat UK alive.
Colo State I already mention and they are defenseless.300 yds rushing.

We're going to KILL those three teams.
UK and CSU are at home, both are pretty weak teams.
Our defensive line is going to maul the frick out of Tennessee. WVU isn't even remotely as deep or talented as we are on the defensive line.
What excites ME? The defense being very, very discipline, always in the right part of the field and angry. Even when they got knocked down, they're looking for the tackle, they're never out of a play.
Offense will develop, but our defense really did work.

To be fair Miss STate allowed 42 yards to this team last year, so let's wait and see.
I think we are going to cause a lot more chaos. Shannon's defense was so passive. Todd's defense will tackle well, hit hard, and pressure the QB. Luckily, we have two insanely good corners to prevent the long plays Georgia did when Grantham was there because they didn't have elite corners that I remember.
I see us beating UK pretty well as well as Colorado STate. Tenn has enough talent to make it a game. So not going to claim blow out there we need to see Franks under distress and how he handles it before I start predicting blowing out many teams. Still. This was an amazing start and very excited to see what unfolds.

They made 15 yards almost the entire first half before their lone long run -- and it only happened because it was 38 - 0 and the team packed it in.

What I really want to see is the run game against an SEC defense. I thought it would be a lot more aggressive. No one could have predicted we'd come out and throw it so much.
Pierce is a m o n s t e r. He's going to betop 5 RBs in the country in his junior year.

Run game was kind of not amazing for me tonight. I thought Scarlett ran into tackles to often and Davis did decently . I love me some Davis can't wait for him to get his mojo back kid is a beast. As for Pierce my goodness..that hit bro..I love this kid already as well.
Add in a dynamic threat in Lemons and we legit have five deep RB core as good as anyone in the country. If we can force the defense to respect Frank's arm..we could really gash some teams

I'll tell you right now that teams are already gameplanning for Franks. He's not a great passer, but the offensive line did surprisingly well giving him time. They looked way better than last year.
The passing game got a complete, shiny, brand new upgrade. All we need to do is get the running game going again and we'll be good to go.
But it was way less than inspiring, I thought we were going to have a much better showing. You can tell that Scarlett hasn't run for a while in a real game.

Color me unimpressed with Scarlett...Davis's slow start may be due to rust from injury...but in my mind # 29 Clement is our best RB right now. The kid runs like his hair is on fire and he loves contact. That special teams play is one of the best I've seen from the Gators in some time. I think he has impressed the coaches like he has the fans.
Josh Hammond has improved dramatically and it wasn't the competition level. He and Swain finally received coaching. Van Jefferson is smooth as silk. My favorite WR is # 89 Tyrie Cleveland he made some clutch catches. I would have loved to see more of Grimes.
TE is finally a force. Krull is going to be hard to defend at 6'7", Gamble caught a handful of passes.
The OL did perform well...except center and that's a problem. Contrary to Straws assessment, teams are game planning on to attack the middle of the line. Franks threw two dimes in the end zone...really gems and Im not talking about the easy jump pass. He wont get credit for that from some people I guess. He has a set of wheels and you could see his speed running to the boundary. Baby Giraffe is maturing. At 6'6" 240 he is bigger than some LBs and when he takes a step...its like two steps and not one...because of his height.
Special teams was night and day from last year.
I like what I see and cant wait to see us play a SEC team. We held back a lot on defense and offense to not give too much away. As long as we protect the ball it will be hard to beat us. Expect to see UK fight hard.

Reel I think you are talking about pierce not clement.
I also think Scarlett’s rust showed last night as he missed some holes.
Love the fact that our playmakers touched the ball.
This team is night and day better coached from last year!

I never wanted Kelly as our coach...he had stated years ago he hated recruiting and last night Cincy beat UCLA 27-19.
No thanks.

I thought the middle of the line played OK until McCoy came in. Buchanan played well.
I mean, without watching a replay it was my impression that everyone did their job.
The fact that I can say that so confidently is proof that the team has progressed in the right direction this off season.
I am excited to see how they handle the step up in competition this week.
A few things to consider as well:
UF was missing a lot of guys tonight. We were watching a mixture of first and second team defense most of the night. Cece Jefferson, David Reese, Shawn Davis, Bryan Edwards, Luke Ancrum, and Kyree Campble didn't play, and Jachai Polite and Van Joseph missed a number of snaps in the first quarter due to limited suspensions as well. So UF got a lot of depth guys snaps in the game.
We can see now why Franks is the starter. Trask is fine, and they didn't call a lot of passes while he was on the field with the 2's, but Franks just seems to have slightly better control over the offense. Emory Jones is LOL not ready. Poor kid. At least I have some faith that if UF loses a starter at QB this year that the backup will be at least serviceable.
Special teams look dynamic. Our punt returner actually caught punts, our kickers kicked, our coverage units covered, and our kick blocking unit actually blocked kicks. They looked hungry and motivated. HUGE difference from last year.
Last note - team had fun. We haven't seen that in a while.
