Most people I know in real life that were pro-McElwain want him fired now. He embarrassed UF at that press conference.

You wouldn't change your opinion of McElwain if he beat Georgia missing 15 scholarship players on a depleted roster...?

Why should it ?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias

That's just a blatantly stupid thing to say -- that results wouldn't change your mind. As for the offense: I understand that injuries and suspensions do hurt the team, and I've said before that he needs to practically win out to stay (for me) if he loses to Georgia.

I'm pretty critical on McElwain for a multitude of ways that I put on another thread, but I think there's a lot of undue blame that he receives for things that are either out of his control or weren't his fault to begin with.

I hate his conservatism, a lot. It's probably what pisses me off more than anything that he's ever done. I hate that he's not good with the press.

But I get it, this is a stressful job. Especially when the fan base gives up on you after two 9 win seasons when we were averaging 6 before you came.

Do you think we're still having this same conversation if he kicked two game winning field goals over A&M and LSU?

So if he loses 2 more games then you think he should be fired ? I will believe it when I see it. Your so far up Macs arse that if you say he should be fired then it should be a done deal.

1 if we're not counting Georgia.

You know, a lot of people said the same thing when I defended Jeff Driskel for the last few years he was at Florida. I always said he had the right stuff, just not the right system -- said I was up his arse, and he did well enough outside of Florida.

McElwain, I think, is a decent coach -- I even might say pretty good considering the lack of offensive talent that he's had to work on getting.

He's bringing in a top 10 class, Malik Davis is easily the best RB we've had in a while, he's kept it close against two teams while missing 15 - 20 scholarship players and we've almost had four games wherein we had 400 yard games with no quarterback.

So, for the most part I say: Wait until he actually has a quarterback, if he can put up more than 350 without one, imagine what he can do when he has one.

And we have one coming in next year who could be a gamechanger.

Of course, we could also frick over an otherwise successful coach and get a Butch-like bandaid, waiting again and continue our coaching musical chairs.

I'd rather see him come back next year, but if he loses a game outside of Georgia he's fricked.

Who has UCF beaten??? Who the hell have they played? I just don't see all the love for Frost right now??? The AAC is like the old Big East. Back heavy schedules where all their teams look better than they really are.

I was waiting for someone else to say it -- I'm really not hot on up and coming HCs anymore.

If we're going to fire McElwain, or he's going to resign: We definitely want someone tried and true.

3 out of our last 4 HC's didn't have extensive HC experience and all 3 are looking like disasters. We cannot take a risk with a young hot shot. Frost may be the next big thing BUT how can we take another chance? It must be a HC that is tried and true.

Zook, Champ and McElwain were all hot commodities. Please not again.

Yeah, man -- and I mean Meyer was kind of an up-and-comer but...I don't know. I'd take Leach over anyone at this point -- but we have to keep our defensive staff in tact. Even as young as they are, they have heart and play hard, they're just young.

But just to throw another young coach to the wolves, no thanks.

McElwain wasn’t really a hot commodity.

Urban Meyer was an up and comer out of Utah. Wasn’t a proven HC against good competition and nobody knew he was a great recruiter until he got to Florida where he could put it on display.

It been a nice surprise to have to join the group of fans that want offense and want to win championships more then supporting a coach .

UF>Mac
