I'm not sure what the dbs where supposed to do lined up so far off the line all year. That's a scheme problem. Not a defensive backs coach problem. Gotta kill the snake by cutting it's head off not it's tail.

You have to understand the concepts...the worse thing for a corner is to get beat deep...keep the ball in front of you. WRs know the route they are running and DBs have to be prepared. Brent Venables is considered to be one of the best DCs around and he is in his 10th year at Clemson I believe. Y'all need to watch more college football games.
We didnt have a pass rush worth a flip and TG knows he cant play man to man much. We missed Jeremiah Moon a lot this year and Shawn Davis.

on 1/1/21 at 12:11 pm to reel_gator8You can give a cushion, the problem is the situation in which they play off of the ball. There are third and short plays where we're manning up on a slot receiver...15 yards off of the ball.
There were so many plays where because we didn't even make them work for it, why take a shot downfield when all they need do is hit a shallow slant and take the easy money?
And usually when a DB plays that far off, an LB has that slant route, it's all concept stuff. All stuff Grantham really didn't do very well all throughout the year.

Jesus stop the excuses. Bogle and Chafield have looked so much better than Moon ever has. At some point the excuses have to stop. Todd Grantham is a fricking dinosaur and Dan Mullen is the clown our rivals think he is for keeping him. This isn’t the Gator Standard he talks about. The pass rush was good. 2nd in the SEC in sacks. You have a DC who lets his safety’s coach play Donovan Stiner the whole fricking year. This staff is a fricking joke. Mullen is a great OC who did just enough at a bottom dweller to convince his boss he can run a program. He can’t he has no discipline as a man and it reflects in his team. That’s the truth, and I won’t say I told you so but it is what it is.

We have no D line depth, our LB's are awful. And our db's are constantly confused. Not to mention the horrendous tackling by the entire defense.
