Have y'all recently heard anything about Derrick Dillon's recruitment? Our 247 guys believe he may flip over the Christmas break.

He will probably decommit. It won't be a huge blow to UF short term, but could be long term. McElwain likes Ryan Davis more, who is in the same mold, but much more polished as a route runner/WR at this point. Dillon is no doubt an explosive athlete, but imo he needs a yr or so to develop.

He doesn't play against very good competition at Pine HS. He'll definitely need a year to develop as a WR. I wish he was a little more open to playing CB.

I agree. I was turned off by him at the opening when they lined him up at WR in 1 on 1's. Woof, it was ugly.

Reports are that the girls school qb commitment Francois is going to visit UF and says UF is now recruiting him because of new coach...never know, but I like that we aren't letting commits stop us from trying.
I think we are seeing the beginning of a huge upswing in the future recruiting at UF.

These are 17-18 yr olds. If it is meant to be, then its meant to be.
I know one thing...wish there were more players who shared Dante Fowler's attitude and love for the game....and the Gators. If he gets in Cowart's earhole he will sell the program for us.

Things are good with Cowart.
For UF to hit 20 signees this yr it will take a miracle. Muschamp really fricked us this class. Didn't get enough commits early.

Hard to get top recruits to commit when job security is such an issue. And hell..commitments mean diddly squat to most recruits,,,they still take visits (free trip and get pampered etc etc) and if they change their mind, then they change their mind.
Years ago this never happened...recruits nowadays call the shots and that's crap. Years gone by no recruit would visit elsewhere because his offer would be yanked. This is a general statement and there are still some standup kids who understand that their word is their bond.
We are still hunting and players know there is a change a coming in Gainesville. I don't mind mind signing 3 stars at all and develop them. Alex McCallister is a prime example of someone that is turning out fine after arriving at UF 6'6" (almost 6'7")and about 215-220 lbs...when I first saw him as true frosh my first thought was look at the wingspan...but he was skinny as a toothpick. He will be r/s jr next year and has already contributed a lot...including leading the team in sacks.

2016 DB Chauncey Gardner has decommited due to coaching changes. Says Florida still high on list.
In other news one of my Auburn friends who is friends with Brandon Wheeling a Graduate Assistant at Auburn said they have been told that Ivey, Jefferson and Cowart are all intending on signing with Auburn on NSD.

“I have to take that Florida official for my mom,” Cowart said. “She wants to get a feel for coach Mac and see, ‘Who is this guy?’ That’s the biggest thing. And she wants to meet coach (Geoff) Collins.
“She was so tied in with coach (Brad) Lawing, and then she was really hurt when coach (Will) Muschamp got fired, but everything worked out. She likes Auburn, too. But the biggest thing for Florida is for her to be able to talk to coach Mac and coach Collins. It’s really important.”

We need Cowart, Jefferson and Ivie to join UF. I like Cowart....even if he says whats on his mind...he is upfront about it....and he isn't going to follow others....they will follow him if anything.
