Because he was the most successful athletic coach in our history.

Because he pissed and moaned.

Yes he left the program in shambles anyway. So now he fricked up two programs instead of one.

I have a friend in Pawleys Island who is well connected to the Gamecock Club and USC's administration. My understanding is that, as early as 2011, it was understood that Hyman wasn't going to be here much longer, even if the Aggie job hadn't opened up. I've been told that Ray pretty much indicated that he'd resign and go to Knoxville if he wasn't going to be considered for the AD job. The Vols eventually hired Dave Serrano, so I guess Tanner decided to threaten to go to another school a year later.
