I don’t want to start a new topic about some Josh Belk info and would rather somewhat hide my post in a thread with just Gamecocks.

I was at a luncheon last Friday and heard Gamecock writer Tony Morrell speak. Does anyone have a comment about whether Morrell is usually honest and accurate?

Reason I ask is because he had some wild comments about Belk’s transfer, Dabo, Pickens recruitment, UT’s staff and UGA recruiting.

Was anyone else at the luncheon? I don’t have a membership to read Morrell’s stuff but I asked someone who does and was told Morrell does not write the way he spoke at the luncheon.

Not my intention. I was wondering if some may post that TM is full of it and then I could disregard his comments.

What TM said regarding Belk:

Belk was not enamored with Clem but his HS coach “brokered” a deal for Belk to attend Clem. I don’t know what “brokered” means in this instance.

Belk goes to Clem and his roommate (WR from South Point) is getting high every day in the room. Belk goes to the Clem coaches asking that something be done because Belk told them he doesn’t want to fail a drug test. Clem coaches promise to do something but never do.

Xavier Thomas shows Belk money, car, jewelry and pics from trips that he got for heading to Clem. Belk thinks to himself “I didn’t get anything”.

Belk never feels “part of the fam” while at Clem. TM said Jeff Scott was Belk’s recruiter but Belk felt Scott acted as if he didn’t even know him and would pass him in the football offices and not speak.

Belk decides to transfer and tells Dabo. Dabo refuses to allow Belk to transfer to any school on their schedule or future schedules.

Belk gets an attorney. Attorney tells Dabo that Belk will be allowed to transfer wherever he wants or attorney will make a statement about what all Belk witnessed at Clem (I.e., XT).

Dabo agrees to let Belk go wherever Belk wishes.

That seems more likely than Clemson's bullshite story about Dabo being a saint and SC recruiting players who are on campus. If Carolina was recruiting players currently on their roster, they would have pitched a fit and never let him come here.

So how much did we broker with him?

This seems very much in line with the stuff I have heard about XT's recruitment. We aren't saints here either, and we basically had a bidding war for XT. Clemson's got money though.

Apparently its fair game to bid for instate guys, just cant cross state lines. Thats the rules.

Belk committed too early to be a part of that process. He committed on his first OV there.

I like it when I have a shirt or hat that states "Cocks" and some soccer mom's in other parts of the country get offended.

Thats what I said! apparently Clemson just has more. Plus I'm sure they were gonna let XT slip after Clowney. We won that bidding war.

why?

that really doesn't play to the whole "we are more powerful than them because we got SEC money" story.
