There would have to be some atonement, no doubt. But bringing Rumph "home" would be a rock-solid get.

I say we let each player he negatively recruited against us with gets to kick him square in the balls. We really don't need that weasley type of human producing offspring in our society, let alone being a symbol of authority to young men.

He could be a really great hire. Right now there are 2 drawbacks. Former clemson coach and he's worked 4 different jobs the past 5 years.

The clemson thing would only be a drawback if he was one of the coaches who actively negatively recruited against us, and he was going to go back into some of the same schools with the same HS Coaches and now try to say, "just kidding, SC is great."

The multiple jobs can pretty easily be explained. He was at clemson and got an offer to go to bama, duh, of course he'll take that. Then he wins 2 Natty's there. Texas then offers him the AHC title and more money, so he goes there. Florida offers him the same $ and he takes that job to get back in the SEC and maybe b/c he saw that texas is falling apart.

Rumph would check a lot of boxes as the DL Coach at SC:
Former SC Player.
From SC originally.
Multiple years of SC Collegiate and HS coaching experience
Multiple years of SEC coaching experience.
Coached ELITE DL at alabama and florida, lots of players in the NFL, or will be in the NFL, r
Rally good stat lines/high performing DL units

I'd like to think Chris has grown-up a little over the last ten years. I knew him, casually, before he left for Memphis. He had a rep for being difficult, hard to get along with, and he had a bit of a chip on his shoulder and was angry about not having been called to coach at his alma mater at the time ... when Spurrier arrived.

He pulled a Rich Rod and tried to say Spurrier had offered him a job ... Spurrier called him an out and out liar - which might indicate a character flaw, especially when combined with some of his other history.

I know for a fact he recruited negatively against us on the recruiting trail while at Clemson and Bama. I heard several of the stories, first hand, from players themselves and in one case a parent.

With all of that said, who knows. A great weight may be lifted from him if he finally lands here, and the whole Momma calling him home thing ... maybe it would give a new meaning to his life in a very deep philosophical way. I'm being serious here.

Inevitably it is up to Muschamp I suppose. I doubt he'll get a ton of flack from the Board or big boosters ... but he'll (Muschamp) get some and whether or not he wants to go there is his choice. It'll be a gamble for him. I'm sure they've already talked about it because Chris knows what he's done ... whether or not the bridges can be rebuilt or not.

We let go S&C Coach Joe Connelly today. We kept the Asst S&C Coaches for now. Jeff Dillman is the leading candidate, but we'll probably look at some other options to see who's available.

Joe took over for Fitz in 2012. According to our players (like Lattimore) the attendance and intensity faded with Fitz departure. If Fitz is let go in Houston this year, there is a small chance he comes back to college ball. I expect him to stay in the NFL.

Yep, could be on or off the field. Could be the LB coach or could be Director of Assignments and Gap Control. Off the field, he would be a HUGE get for us in an Admin/recruiting/evaluating/gameplanning job. If he waals a position coachx we would battle the 'he bout to retire,' schtick

My favorite thing about Ellis Johnson is the way that he locked down Rock Hill. I have heard that there is about to be another talent uptick from the area, so hopefully with him, we can get on those guys early.

Yeah ... I was actually on the phone with one of the (last staff) coaches when I got the text about EJ.

Then I talked to another, then third. Got how everything went down, straight from the horses' mouths so to speak.

It all went down after the team meeting ... each coach was called off the road, brought in, and fired one by one. Grady had already said he wasn't.waiting around. Hoke was down in Charleston, etc. Everette already knew he was done. G.A. still sounded bitter and I agree with him ... it was probably not handled.perfectly. Joe Rob is a pro, he's been through this before. Whammy sounded cool with it, said he got to say goodbye to all of his players and friends so he is happy. Deke went as he came pretty much. Junior disappoints me ... it was time for him to go. He's been riding daddy's.coattails too long evidently .... I had no idea it had gotten that bad.

Anyways ... that's all over now. Not sure how this Rumph and Johnson thing is going to work out ... hell, a.week ago I would have bet Elliott would not be retained until I heard about his trip over to the Lt. Gov's place ... this is all so out of the box compared to past searches, firings and hirings, over the years ... everything is changing - I hope for the better. It's all about big busuness now and y'all younger fans ... it may seem innocuous and necessary ... but we are entering into a really new phase here. Loyalty, devotion .... I dunno, things are changing.

Ellis Johnson .... I would never trust him. He's a whore. But hell, if he can recruit
... I dunno. Character is important inmy old way of thinking. I just don't know.

Anyways - I hope Muschamp has this under control and knows who he is dealing with where EJ and Rumph are concerned.

Roper is definitely a done deal BTW.

S&C ... if not Fitz, which it is probably not going to be ... it'll be the assistant at Bama hopefully. Heard the guy has a great resume. Joe Con went out like the insecure little pussy he was.

We can do that. My wife gets back from Honolulu in the morning. I need a few days to make her happy and to make her feel like we missed her big time - can't live without her.

Boom will be gone most of the week ... the next big info will start trickling in after Sunday I suspect. Should be another official hire or two or three made by then as well.

I gotta admit I am anxious to see who they replace Jamie Speronis with. I'm glad he is gone.

Boom is getting a new secretary ... Rita has been upstairs for a couple of decades, she is semi-retiring. Probably going to move over on the receptionist's desk at Tanner's office part time like Emily did. Should be interesting to see how many of his own, trusted, people Muschamp brings-in.

Let's see. My Son has some things planned for me between now and Christmas and we're going back to Tennessee over the holidays and then probably to Palm Beach to see one of my daughters over the holidays as well ... I've got a new grandson to visit with.

How about some time after the first of the year before I head back to Honolulu? Some time before the 10th maybe? Would that be good?

I was a big doubter on Boom but now I'm finding myself a hug fan of this move. He is assembling a recruiting machine. I just hope this staff can coach and develop.

Rumph has been very impressive. UF's DL is much better this year than last year. It would be a big blow for UF to lose him.

Roper is on campus today at Williams Brice watching film. 247 confirmed. He is going to be the OC, it's locked up now. He is flying with Muschamp today up to see QB Brandon McIlwain.

I'll admit, I was not happy at all about the Boom hire to begin with. But like the majority of others who felt that way, his already tireless recruiting efforts since stepping foot in Cola along with the staff he is assembling has me cautiously optimistic

Not to mention he handled his official intro and q & a with the media like a boss. I think most of them were deathly afraid to piss him off and it was funny to watch them dance instead of vice versa for a change.
