Probably just ironing out the details.

They haven't made them remove anything with that kind of lightening fast speed yet.

Actually the players hadn't tweeted anything about any coaching candidate other than Elliott till those about Pruitt just came across.

Ohhh..BAW's mama just tweeted about Pruitt.

If you want him as a head coach then by all means take a chance. I wouldn't be upset if UGA did.

Details will be the problem with him I think. If they try to saddle him with a ridiculous buyout it will stop him from taking a different job next year.

Why not just lay all the speculation to rest and say you're frickin' staying at UH if that's what you plan to do?

He's positioning for $, perks and operating budget at all places right now. If he came out and said, "I'm staying at Houston no matter what," then Houston might not give him as much as he wants. He has to make them believe he is still willing to leave. Also, if someone comes to him and offers him $4.5M+ on a 5 year deal guaranteed, he's gone. He and his agent know the magic number, it might not be $4.5M, but there is indeed a number for each school looking at him and if they hit it, it will make his choice easy.

I said this over a month ago, everything you see is information and disinformation, everything and everyone are just positioning right now to get the best deal for them.

Not sure how accurate it is, but I've seen reports that Houston will make a major push to get into the Big 12 this offseason.

Have to imagine that if that is the case, there are extra incentives being added into Herman's new offer. Could be a cause of the holdup.

I think Pruitt or Smart would both be solid hires. Recruiting would definitely take off.

That would be about what the rumors are amounting too.

Would never happen, but that would be about the most amazing grandslam staff we could ever assemble.

IDK...this guy hasn't given a straight answer about anything yet.

UH put out the word that he'd pulled his name from SC consideration...he said he had not done that.

UH player said he'd told them he "killed the SC talk" but what does that really mean? Things went radio silent after the fuss was made about the leaks from both our camp and his...that could've been what he meant by killing the SC talk.

This guy has been very ambiguous in every "answer" he's given. He hasn't actually given a single definitive answer to any of the speculation, anywhere...whether it be with us, Mizzou, y'all, or any other team interested in him.

Ours was the only job that he directly named, though.

This makes me wonder about how much legs Herman to USC had when all of this started. I wonder if he's just been lobbying for a pay raise at UH the entire time.

Saw somewhere that he would get a million dollar bonus if they make it to the Big 12.

I know that was a speculative number, but we're willing to go up to $6 mill. How the hell could he turn that down if we did offer him that amount...no way UH will meet that. And why not just go ahead and throw the damn $$ at him since that amount was already approved as the ceiling? Hell, if need be seek permission to scale some of the $50mill approved for the new athletic building and add it to what we're willing to pay.

I haven't had great success in Sig Bets this year, but I would do another AGAINST Houston getting into the BIg12 this year, (not saying against you, just saying that I HIGHLY doubt they get into the Big12.) Big12 is looking to expand to get a Conference Championship game AND improve their media market share. Adding Houston only gives them 1 more team to the 5 teams they already have in TX....it adds 0 market share for them. They need to add a BYU or Colorado St, or both really. Even Tulane would be a better choice for them. Houston is SOOOO far down their list of schools they would want to add to the Big12. When they add, they will raid either Conf USA or the AAC.

Exactly, everyone is still just positioning, every option is still in play.

I think BYU/Houston would make the most sense.

I think the house money is on the Big 12 not expanding.

I really hope that Herman signs the damned contact, and fades back into obscurity.

I'm tired of hearing about that guy.

$6M was a number we threw out there to see if we could get interest from Chip Kelly (who makes north of that right now,) or Dantonio. I don't think Ray is going to show all his cards to Herman/Smart/Champ/Pruitt/Fedora or whoever, he'll let the search firm help determine what the candidates are really worth and show that to their agents and help with the negotiations.

Hypothetically, if we did offer $6M to Herman, and he turned it down, we were lucky to not get him. I never thought he was worth more than $4M anyways. $4M would put him in the top 12 HBC's in CFB, and he doesn't even have 1 full season under his belt.

Yeah, I don't think it happens either. Houston seems to have a lot of faith in themselves.

Oh, and I'm on board the Jeremy Pruitt train.

Don't care if it's true, I'm rolling with it now and I'm not even that crazy about him coming as an AHC.
