Herman was on Arute's show this week. They had time to talk on and off air. Last night, the UH BOT began putting together a package to try to keep Herman, including giving their Chancellor a larger range of negotiating power.
That is was Arute said what he said, his exact quote was

How would he know? I never hear much out of that guy anymore.

Tanner called the commits today to keep them up on whats going on and how the process is going. And basically said they have their guy. And before it goes public he would let the commits know first.

I listen to XM and Arute's show when I'm traveling for work. He's been right about stuff, he's been wrong about stuff. If Herman wasn't just recently on his show, I wouldn't pay this any credence. Arute is a Pro though, worked for ESPN for the college coverage and now does the same for XM.

Kinda confirmed it in my mind when the TX boards started blowing up with the whole Herman accepted SCAR HC position in principle stuff.

Very impressed with the way he's handled the Houston job. I know Urban thinks very highly of him. It's definitely a game changer if everything stays in line and he is a Gamecock. Just concerned there's about another 2 week window before something will be announced. Any thing can happen in that time.

Herman is a slam dunk hire initially, but we won't know sure no matter who we pick for about 2-3 years. Honestly, Herman, Fuente, Dantonio, and Smart would all be grand slam hires. Herman is better than Fuente though, he won the heads up contest.

We was in Columbia this weekend for the UF game. It was his first time to a game. He loved it.

Ok, I believe you. I just recalled on the commit thread I made when he committed that some people were talking about his dad posting on here, so I looked at that old thread and sure enough, that was accurate.
