Pittman is really doubling down on recruiting the neighboring states, including Mizzou.
Which is smart, we can't just reach into Texas any more and get everyone we need to supplement the players coming out of Arkansas.
Odom also gives him a guy with head coaching experience on the staff to lean on while Pittman gets up to speed in that regard.

I get why its a good hire my friend. I was more making the thread so I could point it out later when certain posters here refer to Muschamp as "doing everything he can to win". You know, like hiring one of the best DC available right out of the gate. Rather than dragging some dog shite with you from your last job no one wants.

Oh no, I got what you meant with your original post. If you are going to "upgrade" a spot on your coaching staff then go after the very best people out there... not a buddy from a past job.
He might do a fine job, and I'll be happy to eat my share of crow if he does, but you don't think elite hire in terms of Mike Bobo. I hope I'm wrong mind you.

I've read some things on this board where we may be in line to hire DJ Durkin and we are just waiting for TRob to find a new home. How much of that is true, I have no clue. But if it is the case then it would explain why Muschamp seems to be dragging his feet in hiring a new DC.
