Yea let's get the guy that let Chip Kelly put 50 up on him in the 2nd half at home... Would fall right in line with our current product.

The biggest thing is he's never recruited SEC country.

Wait, what?

1992 - 1996 he and Hal were at Valdosta State in Georgia
1997 - 1998 he and Hal were at Kentucky with Tim Couch (#1 pick in the NFL)

At UK you had Mumme, Leach, and Dykes and the "Air Raid" offense

5-6, 2-6 1997 season (lost to SC, UF, UGA, and UT in the east)
7-5, 4-4 1998 season (lost to UF, UGA, and UT in the east)
6-6, 4-4 1999 season (lost to UF, UGA, and UT in the east)
2-9, 0-8 2000 season (lost to VU, UF, SC, UGA, and UT in the east)

While Leach was funny in press interactions and had Tim Couch it did not overcome that his style of play was not suited to a conference with solid defenses. He and Hal were also not known for building defenses as their focus was all offense all the time.

As for Couch he was from the state of KY and most recruited kid in the state since Paul Hornung got recruited to play for Brennan at Notre Dame in the 50's. Without Couch the offense only system would have made an average UK team quite dismal.

If SC hired Leach as an assistant and hired a defensive HC it might work, but that is about it. Leach success at Texas Tech and Washington State worked because he was in conferences where offense only teams could compete.

Taters would love Leach at SC as they would beat them like a red headed stepchild.
