I'm not holding my breath. I truly think we could have an improved product on the field, but struggle to get to 6 wins. It'll require winning every game we're supposed to. Then again, if things click and we develop some semblance of a running game, we could be very dangerous on off. Starting 11 will be solid on def, secondary and DL reserves should be much improved, but LB will be a huge question mark going into the season.

I've seen us ranked #1 for sos so if we finish 18th with that schedule it would be huge.

I’d bet money we aren’t ranked in any preseason poll this year.

We don't deserve to be. We finished the season with a thud and tried to take some sort of positives away from Bentley tossing the ball around Clemson while we still couldn't run the ball and Clemson continued to do whatever they wanted to us.

Next season, to me, is just a wash. I hope to be competitive, come out with a winning record, and not get embarrassed. We're out of our depth with the schedule and even with substantial progress will take a lot to come out with a better record.

I would never give up before even trying. You're going on the assumption that all the other teams are going to be as good as predicted. One game at a time that's all it takes.

The reason Thomas Sumter was given the name " Gamecock " was due to his tenacity and refusal to quit even under insurmountable odds. We are Fighting Gamecocks and don't bow down to anyone!!!

You , Carolina Girl, are the epitome of what a true Gamecock is. Through each medical issue, twitter wars or forum battles you never give up. You never ask for help and you stand your ground and don't give an inch.
You will fight them on land, at sea or in the air, you will never give up.

If the football team followed your lead they would never lose.

I mean I'm not giving up.

I'm a fan, I'm still going to watch.

My prediction is we won't have a good record.

Remember the same media blowing up our schedule is the same damn media that made us the " dark horses" of the Sec last season.

I see us over matched, talent wise, to only Georgia, bama and clempson everyone else we are pretty close to takentwise ( at least the starters).

I didn't side with the media last year though.

And didn't think we'd be dark horses.

I think you and I eere the only two that didn't buy in. On paper the schedule looks extremely hard but could be overranked. We are talking about the same media that votes fso and texas into the preseason top 10 every year no matter what.
We have a starting qb that hss gobe through the SEC gauntlet a couple of times so that helps. Our defense is not a mash unit and has started building quality depth. All it takes is beating one if those " great teams" and anything can happen.

You serious, Clark?

Mash unit or not, we rolled over against UVA. UK continues to beat us for half a decade and we've never beaten TAMU. Our hope next year is pulling off an upset win against Bama or UGA? I'm not holding my breathe.

There's a difference between being unreasonably negative and realistic. I think this team next year will be better than last. I believe last year's team, despite the records, was better than the previous. I think that Muschamp has exceeded my expectations as far as his ability to adapt, willingness to cut coaches loose, and appreciativeness of an offense without his fingers on it.

However, even if we are substantially better on defense and maintain our offense, to overcome UGA, Bama, and Clemson at this juncture is unreasonable. Hope it's true, but I would almost put that in the same boat as our Final 4 run. So awesome but not a watershed moment. The difference between beating Bama in 2019 and beating them in 2010 is that we knew we could beat them in 2010. We had the dudes.

Success next year would be win the ones you should: 3 nonconference (truth be told, though, that UNC will be a big effing game), Vandy, and UK (if they are still better than us, we need to stop). Get Mizzou for 6 wins and after that I'm good. Give me a TAMU win and I'll be pumped. UT and UF are rolls of the dice and if we show up the first game, maybe something more winnable. That's a pretty good season, even not being in the same stratosphere as UGA, Bama, and Clemson.

And please don't try to sell me that Bentley's SEC experience will be enough to beat these upper tier teams. He had his chance against UF and pissed himself.

Bentley's SEC experience

I don't think this is the best.

I mean we saw in Georgia how a Freshman led them to a national title.

Talent > and I don't think Bentley has the talent to lead us to a 9 or 10 win season.

I hope that if Hilinski is this good he beats him out.

That said, I don't see Muschamp letting that happen.

Muschamp seems hard-headed as all hell. Stubborn as frick. That's the most annoying thing about him to me.

ETA: He's made an enemy out of the Cheerleading coach, cheerleaders and their parents as well. There's a huge conflict there bc he absolutely refuses to let them practice in the ops bldg even tho they were supposed to have access for that reason. One of the parents of a current cheerleader told me he is extremely territorial about the ops center.

I blame florida on the playcalling not on Bentley. We did look like crap at the bowl game which to the shine off of how we played against clempson.

Im looking for progress and think we will see it. I think 8-4 would be a highly successful year but I also think we could go 9-3. I think the media is blowing up our schedule.

Bentley's experience will not be enough to beat the great teams but if it can be enough to keep us in the games then anything can happen.

One man's stubbornness is another's commitment to details. And I'm just wagering Muschamp or anyone else aren't losing too much sleep over cheerleaders. And let's be honest--who was that building built for?

And it's all perception. He's hardheaded when the offense goes stagnant against UF but is willing to change when we play Mizzou? He's hard headed because in his first season he played three QBs and started two freshman? Was anyone complaining about Scar starting when the UF game started or the Clemson game?

There are pluses and minuses with every coaching and managerial style, but if you going to put the ship into someone's hands, I want them to be confident and sure enough of themselves to not bend at every breeze. Does that mean he shouldn't listen to advice and pick his battles? Absolutely not. But that does mean that when the buck stops with you, you've better have the stones to piss some people off.

I agree with you and I think Muschamp runs his program with an iron fist. Its his way or you're out. He learned from Saban and runs the program in a similar way. You don't see leaks about the program like we used too. He doesn't give much info on injuries or suspensions. I want someone in there that is a take charge leader like Muschamp. Win or lose its his butt on the line in the end .

Let's be honest have you ever heard, pre-game, any fans say " boy I hope our cheerleaders are in step today and have an awesome program"? As long as we win I could care less who Muschamp pisses off.
