Are we feeling secure these days?

I notice we've grown-up as a fan base. Man, I can remember over the years when we really had an insecurity complex. We'd blow-up over losing a game, blow-up over losing a big-time recruit, blow-up over all the jibs and jabs from the mutts and taterheads especially.

These days, notsomuch.

I gotta admit, I really didn't care too much, whether we got that Barker kid from KY or not. I figured he was a wasted scholly this year with three QBs returning in 2014 and a limited number of schollies to give. But I expected some disappointment when he decided to stay home (good for KY) ... yet there was none. We all seemed to know it was no big deal. That scholly would be well-used somewhere else and everything works-out for the best in the end.

I kinda like the new outlook and attitude. I think Spurrier and Tanner have rubbed-off on us, as a fanbase, over the years.

Anyone get bent out of shape over anything these days?

I don't go over there. Have lurked there twice maybe, that I can remember.

I'm not really into message boards - but I just like this one, the SECr. Seems to be more grown-ups around here than elsewhere.

I think it's too early to freak out about anything.

From what I've read, we're out for Barker. That's cool, we have a RS FR Parade All American (Nosovitch) and the FR guy who holds many of the NCHS records (Mitch.) Barker would have been a great addition, but we didn't absolutely need him.

Poona Ford was a bit surprising, but we have some really great DT's on the board that we are in the running with.

I still don't know what's up with Bentley Spain, but I don't think we're out of it yet either.

Numbers are tight this year, and we'll put together a class that will help us with depth and to win, we've done it before.

Baseball is going well, we'll probably still host a regional.

Basketball was whatever this year, but nobody expected Martin to get to the Elite 8 either. He has 3 guys coming in who were Top 100 players (T Johnson was the year before and he's a transfer.)

The sky is not falling, all is well.

Personally I feel secure because the past few years we have succeeded with players who haven't been the highest rated guys out of high school but were offered after thorough evaluations by our coaches.

Personally I'd trust our coach evaluations over ratings. We're at a point where if we miss on a big recruit it won't hurt us that much because we have depth and we don't have to count on a freshman to come in and be a star.

I'm not as bent out of shape over recruiting as I used to, because it's people getting upset over a 17-18 year old kid's decision.

Barker's choice was essentially the Lattimore choice, stay home and play for his home state school. Could you imagine the damage our program could have suffered if Marcus didn't play for us and went to Auburn.

Barker can essentially be the lattimore recruit for Kentucky, the home state hero who could potentially turn that program around.
Turning down your home state school with all the instate pressure is incredibly difficult for a high schooler.

In the end, we will be fine, I trust our coaches
