You know, for some reason, I'm thinking we might be decent along the DLine this year. Certainly much better than last season. I didn't really expect to see them as big and physical as they are on the inside this year. You can really tell they worked hard at S&C during the off season.
Now, on the edges ... I'm with you. I'm still not sure what to expect from the edges but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. They have got to be better plus I think our schemes have been tweeked to offset some weaknesses there ... we'll have to wait and see but we're gonna find out early because NC State plays that HUNH fast-paced stuff and it's all rhythm with them.
We're going to have to gamble some, overload the edges with some safety and corner blitzes and hope for the best. Pressure is going to mean everything to this defense and we've gotta find a way to apply some heat off the edges ... or from the inside I guess. Try to help by sending some guys up the middle from time to time. I dunno how they are going to try to do it but they have got to find a way.
Interestingly enough I'm hearing that our guys are taking it kinda personal that NC State's DLine is getting so much press and their OLine is talking shite about wanting to come out and dominate an SEC DLine.
I've been watching some NC St interviews as well. They are very confident that they are going to come out and throw a beatin' on us.
I agree though - this DLine of ours could make us or break us this year. That's usually the case. First and foremost we have got to stop the run.

Speaking of stopping the run if our DL keeps them clean and or starters stay healthy our Lbs could be our best group.
LBs
The guy I'm most interested in seeing how he is used is BAW. He will be lined up at Sam and buck. Will also be used in the rabbits package in passing downs. From the way it sounds to me, he will be used like the falcons use Beasley, a little bit of everything but mostly pass rush. Skai is Skai. Playing will going sideline to sideline ruining offensive stat lines. Brunson is starting Mike. They say he's making the right moves and there's a reason he was the first guy seen by muschamp. Behind them sherrod Greene is first of the bench i believe hes at Mike. Eldridge Thompson juco transfer is at olb. His film looked good and I think I'd take him over some of the guys we had there last year. Other than that we got the freshies, sans the aforementioned greene. Staley and Bowen are guys with good speed and instincts but if there weren't depth issues they'd probably redshirt

I'm hoping Brunson can play like our last LB from RNE, Rodney Paulk. Rodney was a stud before his knees went out bust was still a solid performer for his 6 year stretch.

I just realized something that worries me about this game, we are 0-4 when we play in the game that hosts SEC Nation lost to TAMU in the first ever, then again to UF, then the shitshow of the citadel, and the MSU game last year.

Your defense will be the difference in this game IMO. I would like to think that we will be better on defense than we showed in week 1 but even if we're better than that, we're still pretty damn bad. Our DL is average. Bigger problem is that the LB's can't step up to stop the run and the DB's can't stop the run nor cover.
Even if I'm a homer and think the Mizzou offense might be slightly better than the SC offense, the fact that your D is substantially better slows us down significantly more than our "get out of the way" style of defense does with your offense.
