Looks like we got UGA week 2. Hopefully we can count on one or two key players being suspended....

I wouldn't count on UGA having as many problems with that under Kirby as they did while Richt was there. Richt ran a pretty loose ship during the off season. Kirby is more like Boom, outta the Saban coaching mold ... typically their S&C coaches are also their drill sergeants during the off season and they keep a pretty close tab on things.

UGA is going to be a tougher early draw than they used to be IMHO. But, then again, so are we.

I think the reason the SEC moved the game forward, back to where it used to be, is because they needed an early season conference tilt for TV to get things going and this series will probably become the conference yearly opener for the league while other programs are still playing their OoC opponents.

It just makes sense. Old border rivalry, 60+ game series history. Boom vs Kirby, both UGA alumni. So many players from both states on both rosters. (not as many for UGA as there used to be) Two great venues and fans bases from which to draw great atmosphere for the broadcasts. It's a natural for the league. And it will mean a lot for the winner every season.

I think it might also mean they'll move the Tennessee game back to Halloween weekend as well, right?

Oh I figured it wouldn't be much of an issue as Kirby took over. Just fondly remembering the Head Ball Coach's quips ha.

Your reasoning is sound though. Makes sense to me. And yeah I would anticipate the UT game moving back.
