Yep - great news! Helps with the bad news of Scarlett picking Miami over us, although IMO the signs had him going there far more than coming to USC. Now we'll see how the dominoes fall with the other RB prospects we're hot on the trail with...

Williams has visited USC and plans to visit Georgia once the dead period is over. He has not visited Notre Dame or North Carolina.
“After that (visit to Georgia), I’m going to shut it down and go ahead and make my decision,” Williams said.

Williams is one of several running backs the Gamecocks have been recruiting and he’s aware AJ Turner could pick USC on Tuesday. But he said that won’t affect his thinking about USC as long as it doesn’t affect their feelings about him.
“If they still recruit me I still my want to go there if that’s who I like,” Williams said. “It doesn’t matter who’s coming. I’m going to go down there and compete.”

We're probably in better position for Williams than I thought

Turner taped his announcement with ESPN today. It will air tomorrow. I believe he's picking SC. He should get a bump as well in the rankings if he performs well in the Team Drills/Games. He had the 10 best SPARQ testing for all the combined RB/APB's at The Opening.

Now Wes Green and Chris Lammons are having qualifying trouble. Go figure.

Ok, I think I've read some things that could shed some light on this.

Wideman helped himself out academically in the fall and spring. He's waiting on a qualifying test score and he could still enroll for Fall Camp. If he doesn't get it, he's a likely candidate for 1 year of Prep School (like a Fork Union.)

Lammons and Green have the scores, from what I've read, but they're waiting to be cleared by the NCAA.

I don't know much about Smalls situation.

Joe Blue received news that he's good to go, but waiting for the NCAA to clear him.

I'm just basing this on things i've read online, I don't know these kids and I haven't seen their transcripts.

Much better than them still needing the scores.

Gamecocks land running back AJ Turner
By Phil Kornblut

AJ Turner

RB AJ Turner of Centreville, VA Thursday night announced a commitment to USC from The Opening in Beaverton, OR. Turner had narrowed his list to a final five of the Gamecocks, Clemson, Virginia, Ohio State and Michigan State.

"I love the football coaches, the academics and the university itself," Turner said. "I'll be going into a great position for very early playing time."

Turner visited USC in April and saw things then that led him to believe the Gamecock program would be a good fit.

"They met the criteria that I have," Turner said. "Good academics and academic support, a campus ministry, I'm big on church, and a good football program with stability and bowl games."

Last season Turner rushed for 1258 yards and 31 touchdowns. He is USC's second commitment of the week and 22nd for the 2015 class. He's the Gamecocks' first running back commitment.

I think this is a quality addition to the team, I'm glad we accepted the commitment. I think he and a guy like Scarlett or Frasier could be a fantastic two headed demon in years to come.

Miami bound probably.

We might pick up one of the RBs from Miami actually if he commits there.

Frasier I have no idea, I am feeling an ACC school though, probably FSU. 15 CBs on 247 for Frasier, 100% for FSU.

I really think that if we can get him to come to Black Magic like he said he was gonna do before he committed, and get him for an OV, we will flip him. He'll watch miami be another mid-tier ACC team this year, and if the other RB's don't bolt from there, it will strengthen our position. The key to all this is just getting him on campus.

Well let's hope we can at least do that much.
