If we had to break it down by position, who are the main prospects left on our board as of right now with the understanding some of it might change between now and signing day ... (bold is committed)
QB - Nunez (done here)
RB - (in need of one or two)
TE - Markway
WR - Neal, Bowman, Christian, Washington is still iffy.
OL - Palmer, Milton, Clark (need one minimum)
DE - Blackshere, Key(could be done here)
DT - (need two good ones here)
LB - Pittman, Henry (need more)
DB - Fields (need one more)
Ath - (still to come)
We'll probably sign 25 in this next class. Plenty of room for another 10-13 commitments, agreed?
I hope we get Clark, but he's probably headed to Tennessee. Whether we get him or not will be a testament as to how we are recruiting head-to-head against UT these days.
Regarding "Targets," if we go with as many more as you have listed we'll be way over the limit. Which ones do you believe are the highest on our board remaining with the best chance of signing them come February?
Huggins is seeming more and more like a longshot to me. He just doesn't seem interested and is a bit of a prima donna.

A lot of new crystal ball predictions have Clark committing to us. Rivals has him leaning our way also.

Our position appears to have definitely improved. Looks like it's half and half this morning, the day when he is supposed to commit.
We'll find out today just how strong we've become in the recruiting world, just how good Shawn Ellis is at selling our program as a future and consistent powerhouse.

You know, scrooster, if in your convos with people connected to the program you wanted to inquire ab out RB recruiting for this cycle...

Pretty sure Austin Clark is announcing today. Hes already made his decision but he wanted to inform the schools involved before making an announcement.
After his unofficial to UT last week a bunch of crystal balls went to UT, but they've swung back in our favor so I'd be surprised if he went elsewhere

If we do get him, it'll be a huge get.

I actually have ... with the man himself. But I was liquored-up and all I can remember is something about someone down around Hilton Head or thereabouts. That's all that remains in my head for some reason. I wish I had paid more attention.

Great get! Let's hope it sticks to NSD: wouldn't surprise me if UT keeps in his ear, and he wavers a bit in the meantime....

He's an early enrollee so we won't have to wait as long for him to sign.

Well, apparently we've gotten a second FB commitment tonight, the 2nd one coming from LB prospect Jalen Henry, out of Foley, Alabama. There's no recruiting site profile on him that I can find. I did find this thread about him on Bama's 247Sports site:

Here is the direct link to the HUDL film on Henry:

quote:
Jalen has been a full time starter since his sophmore year so this is going to be his 3rd year as a full time starter. He has been the heart of our D for that entire time. He got hurt in Week 3 this past year vs Daphne so he has basically no highlights from his junior year (this past year). He came back though and played in the 2nd round playoff matchup vs Auburn High but that's pretty much it. He's a very instinctive player, unbelievable leader, and just flat out athlete. Rarely misses tackles, starts at 3rd base for the baseball team and is just a great kid that I've known for a long time. Now on to the point.
I was told recently that it was confirmed he got a full offer from South Carolina (huge offer) and Southern Miss. So he's starting to show up on the national radar.
I've talked to Charles about getting him a profile but I'm just putting this out there to see what some of you think about his SOPHMORE highlight tape.
Remember that 95% of the highlights below are from his 10th grade year. You'll see Darius Paige in front of him for a lot of them. He should have an oustanding senior year this year and blow up. He's gotten considerably bigger and faster since this tape. Roll Tide and have a great day
Tyler Cameron (Foley's QB) got his first of hopefully many upcoming offers by LA Tech last night.

Finally got around to watching that soph film on him. He's definitely a player. Kid has a nose for the ball. He's grown some since this I would imagine. I agree with everything that was posted about him - he looks like a steal. I hope we can keep him and that he has an injury free senior season.

So with Jalen Henry's commitment we now have recruits from 10 different states
Traditional stomping ground (4):
SC-1
FL-2 (If someone could explain the Jerad Washington situation I'd appreciate it. I counted him even though some sites don't)
GA-3
NC-2
Others (6):
Alabama- 1
Louisiana- 1
Maryland- 1
Missouri- 1
Pennsylvania- 1
Virginia- 1
Its nice to see us getting into states like Alabama, Maryland and Virginia where we could realistically pulling a recruit or two a year.

You're not kidding. That's a really good sign. It means we're finally going national plus we're beating out teams like Tennessee for top talent.
The worm may have finally turned in our favor.

After watching the Henry film, two things stood out to me: closing speed and form tackling. The kid has the fundamentals down to a T. Wraps up on every hit unless its a shoestring. This guy is definitely a steal. Hopefully Saban doesn't come knocking.
