Jacob August, Fork Union TE turned down some scholly offers to come be a preferred walk-on at USC. He was going to go to Penn St, but then bolted after O'Brien left.

I'm a little perplexed though. He had a scholarship opportunity to go to Richmond and Bucknell. Those are really good academic schools. Richmond has a 98% job placement after graduation and they do a year study abroad. I hope this young man does really well here.

Side note, Fork Union is awesome, they've helped us out a ton over the years.

****, #19 CB on 247 Composite, Chris Lammons decommited from UF today. He had taken to twitter today with some comments about making the best decision for him and got into some chatter with BAW, who was talking up the Gamecocks.

Right now the Gamecocks are trending the right way with the 247 projections and the lead those % wise.

He's taking an OV here on the 24th, he already OV'd to Wisc in November and he has an OV to UF tentatively scheduled for UF on the 17th.

If he doesn't take that OV to UF and comes to USC on the 17th for the Big Weekend OV we have going on, I think he comes to USC.

Our DB situation in this class just got a lot better.

We shouldn't overlook Smalls and Harris Jr though, but we also have to recognize that both had season ending knee injuries this past season, and we need to have 4 new CB's ready to play in August. That 2 Deep is WIDE THE frick OPEN at CB

Conway, you think we're going to get Smith, Green AND Lammons, or will we stop at the first 2 to commit?

UF is also going after another APB, Brandon Powell, who is a Miami commit, but is being reported as potentially flipping tomorrow.

Many of the gators on 247 said they would rather have Powell and if he commits, they'd be done at RB.

Looked into it more, UF just offered Powell yesterday. UF was his dream school growing up. He started following all the Gator players/coaches today and commenting with Pro Gator comments on social media. Now the Gator 247 site is saying that a decision from Powell could come tomorrow.

If Powell goes to UF, I think Lawing backs of Scott. Scott could then come to our event on the 17th. We'll see what happens. Powell is an EE, so they will have to make a decision tomorrow.

Powell took down on the Miami stuff from his social media. I think our position with Scott is going to get better after tomorrow. UF is pursuing another RB too named Jeff Jones.

I have no idea....Green has sounded like he's falling away from us with every passing week, but UGA's DB coach resigning could change things. I doubt Harris will help us out much next season due to his ACL and how young/small he is. I think the coaches are thinking they'd like to get 2 DBs from this class to jump on the field as soon as possible next season, so any 2 of those 3 would be a great scenario...

All 3 DB prospects are unanimous 4* rated prospects by the Big Four...Smith is rated higher than Green by all but 24/7, although Scout has him as a Safety for some reason...Lammons is rated higher than Green by Rivals and ESPN, but they both have him as a ATH. Either way I guess if we got Smith and Lammons but missed on Green, I'd be happy with that and say "Green who?", but obviously getting all 3 would be awesome...

Also, from the looks of things I guess we should be worried more about Tennessee with Scott than Florida, regardless.....

Yep, APB Brandon Powell just flipped from MIA to UF this morning. UF is going after that bigger RB Jeff Jones, but I doubt they continue to pursue Scott too.

A lot has happened in the past 48 hours with our potential recruiting. I'm thinking more and more that we sign up to maybe 22 guys this cycle. Abu counts back to last year, so we are technically at 15 right now and could sign 8 more.

**** CB DJ Smith is a Cock Lock, it's happening on Monday, I'm 99% sure. His commitment will put our Team Ranking at #20-ish on the 247 Comp.

**** CB Chris Lammons is a Top Target now, he very well move his OV with us from the 24th to the 17th. If that happens, I think he's ours to lose. Right now I'm 66% sure he'll be a Gamecock, odds are better that he will than not.

**** CB Wesley Green is also a Top Target and all 3 CB's are takes right now according to 247. Harris Jr, Googer and Smalls all had knee injuries this season. (There was talk of Googer being able to play DB before the injury.) WIth UGA's DB Coach resigning yesterday, I have to think that helps us. I've gone from about 50/50 to thinking he's 60/40 in USC's favor now. We'll see what happens, he's coming on Jan 17th for an OV.

***** OT Damian Prince moved his announcement to NSD b/c the teams he likes have tight numbers. The Gators nor Maryland have really tight numbers, so I hope he's doing that for us. He's coming on an OV on Jan 17. Gators are trending on 247, but so are we, USC is the only school listed as Warmer. Maryland still is the team to beat, I would say they have a 50% chance to be his pick and then the remaining 50 is chopped b/w USC and UF, but favoring USC. Maryland still doesn't have an OL Coach, so that really could work in our favor.

**** APB Derrell Scott, down to UTk, UF and USC. Good news is that the gators just signed an APB today, and Tony at 247 think that they will now ease off Scott. It's a UTk USC battle for Scott the rest of the way. Both HC's have in home visits in a couple weeks with Scott. Hopefully Scott remains strong with USC, he's a great RB who's I've seen play several times. He's very quick/agile and has home run speed.

**** DT/SDE Dexter Wideman. Still committed to FSU. I think that if he was going to flip, he would've done so around the Shrine Bowl. I know a lot of people are saying that he will/may flip, but I'm now thinking he was just doing that to ease off local pressure to stay in-state. (I don't know him, and I'm just speculating here.) I think there is less than a 50% he flips to USC. That's too bad, his rankings jumped up a lot, he's a great player. I would be thrilled to be wrong.

**** DT Poona Ford, still committed to Louisville, but HC Strong is gone. They did hire Patrino, which was a great hire for them. We'll see if Poona doesn't leave though. His family wants him at USC. His HS HC still doesn't want him at USC. He built a good bond with our players at the Shrine Bowl, but we'll see what happens. He still has an OV with L'ville on the 17th, if he doesn't go and comes to our's instead I really like our chances. Until he at least schedules an OV with us though, I think it's less than 50% that he comes to USC.

**** #1 WDE Darrius Caldwell is stil in play, but he doesn't have the grades yet to get in. If we offer at any point, he will commit. Although, he has offers right now from schools with easier academic standards, so he might sign with them if we haven't offered by NSD. He did say himself though that he might let this semester play out and just enroll in USC this summer. I hope he makes the grades, he would be an immediate impact guy on our DL next season.

I think some of the other guys on our board are simply just not going to come here (and this is just my opinion):
Andrew Williams
Arthur Williams
Kevin Bronson
Derrick Kelly
Nate Brown

I was reluctant to put RaShaun Croney and Isaih Ford on that list, RaShaun is waiting to see about his test score and see who commits here. Isaih may come if he can play basketball too and we give him a committable offer.

Poona Ford de-committed today...he will visit Oregon, Mizzou and Texas. No OV with us. I've heard his coach is pushing him towards leaving the state.

Yep, is HS Coach is a Tater fan.

It's weird he wouldn't want one of his players at USC, seeing as we put so many DL in the NFL.

The head coach of Hilton Head is from NC, and played at Mt Union (Div III). His father, however, played at Clemson under Frank Howard.

IMO right now we're going to land Lammons and Smith at CB, Wideman flips to USC after OV weekend, I like our chances on Prince right now. Got to think Scott stays with us as it has been for a while now. That gives us a good class overall

Could either have a fantastic finish or horrible finish...only one I feel confident about is DJ Smith and Chris Lammons at this point

Maryland got an OL Coach. He used to be known as one of the best, but he was fired from his last job as NYJ's OL Coach in '12. Y'all might remember him, Coach Dave DeGuglielmo, he was Holtz OL Coach here at USC.

We'll see if he develops a relationship with Damian Prince or not.

Todd Grantham just left UGA for national powerhouse Louisville. This should help even more with the recruits like Wes Green and this will jack their defensive recruiting/performance for the next couple years (unless they bring in another 3-4 DC guy.)

Although, I'm sad to see him go in the sense that we did almost whatever we wanted to offensively for the past 4 years. Even the 1 game we lost in the past 4 years, we still put up 30.

Yep, after the DB Coach quit, UGA fans said that Grantham was his recruiter along with Wilson, so it didn't matter. Well now Grantham is now gone, and the defense they will run next year 3-4 or 4-3 isn't determined, so everything is up in the air.

Next thing they'll say is "we still have Wilson!!!"
