Can anyone tell me the big update on Damian Prince that just came out? I heard yesterday from 247 that Prince to South Carolina was trending. Can anyone confirm?

Just saw 5 Star OT Damian Prince is down to Maryland, Florida, and South Carolina. He has dropped the long presumed leader FSU out and is now down to those three. Florida's 247 site said yesterday that Prince is trending to come to South Carolina at the moment. Loving this news!!

This is big. He initially wanted to announce later in February on his birthday, which I think is the same day as Clowney.
HOWEVER, now he is going to announce on NSD, and he just eliminated FSU and Miami. His final 3 are UF, Maryland and USC.

He said that the reason he is moving up the announcement is b/c his finalists are tight on numbers....

I'm going to research something real quick.

This was posted over on Cockytalk about Prince

Florida - "Everything is still good with Florida," said Prince. "I'm still taking my official visit there but it will be on January 31 now. It's a good program there. They just hired Mike Summers from USC. He was my favorite offensive line coach in terms of the way he coaches and his personality. He recruited me very hard at USC but he knew it was going to be very hard for him to get me there. Now that he is at Florida it is much closer. Hiring him really helped Florida's chances with me."

Maryland - "Maryland is still in good standing with me," he said. "It's a great program regardless of how many wins they had this year. They definitely have a lot to offer me. Things are still good with Maryland and we're in the same place as we were before.

South Carolina - "I'm excited to get down there for my official visit next week," Prince said. "It's a great school. Recruiting is going great with them. I've talked with coach Elliot and coach Spurrier. I gave them a call yesterday and I talked to them for about 30 minutes. Things are going great with them and I can't wait to get down there for my official visit. Some of my family will be coming with me on that visit but I'm not sure it will be my grandparents."

TBS just listed us as WARMER on Prince's National Profile, with Maryland and UF now WARM. FSU and Miami are now COOL and as mentioned, Prince has dropped those two from his finalists.

This thing keeps getting more and more entertaining.

Florida has already taken 7 OL commits (4 of whom will be enrolling early ahead of him.) 5 of the 7 are OT's. 1 JUCO OT. 1 5 Star OT already committed, David Sharpe.

There's also the possibility of Muschamp getting canned. If he wins fewer than 9 games, I could see them giving him the boot.

UF will have Humphries back next season starting at LT as a Jr. They'll have a ton of Jr's and Sr's on the 2 Deep. But they'll also have 4 RS Soph and RS Fr OT's. Plus several Jr's were injured this year, who will probably get Med RS's, so I think that they'll have many more total OL than we'll have in '14. Right now, they'll have 22 OL, with the ones they have returning or already committed. (We'll have 16.)

I think I touched on this before, but Maryland will have 2 returning Jr's starting at OT. They'll have 7 OL who are Jr's or younger. Then they're adding 4 OT's this class. 1 is Derwin Gray, the nation's #2 JUCO OT.

Maryland is projected to have 68 scholarship football players come back and they have 14 commitments for '14. Meaning, they would have 82 projected scholly players right now and room for 3 more if there is 0 additional attrition. So honestly, it doesn't appear that their numbers are really very tight. Also, a big deal is Maryland still doesn't have an OL Coach right now.

USC on the other hand has several national prospects who want to be here and we are already in "attrition mode." Some more guys are probably going to look to transfer to get more playing time after the spring.

Terps fans are split about 50/50 about feeling good or worried about us getting Prince. I don't think UF is a real threat. I read that Prince really likes the new OL Coach Sherman, but UF is a far away clusterfrick right now and they just loaded up on OT's recently.

Both Muschamp and Edsall could very well be fired after this next season. Hell, Maryland fired the last coach after he won 9 games and was named ACC Coach of the year. Now they had a losing season and are going to get their shite pushed in, in the Big10 next year. Muschamp just won 4 games...at UF. The fans wanted him fired this year, but the AD went to bat for him. If he doesn't seriously contend in the East and win at least 9 games, IMO he's gone.

USC is just the most stable, recently most consistant, highest performing school and within a more reasonable distance than Gainesville. We also have a depth chart that would have Prince starting in '15, which is good, it will give him time to get to SEC size/strength/speed and then dominate for the proceeding years.

DB Wesley Green of Lithonia, GA is in the middle of a tense recruiting battle between USC and Clemson and his coach said Wednesday the decision could go either way at this point. "If I had to say, it's 50-50 right now," coach Cortez Allen said. "I think both schools are great places. He can perform well at either school. It's all about how he feels about it and where he fits in well." Green has visited both schools and he plans to take an unofficial visit to Georgia this weekend though he can't have any contact with coaches due to the dead period. He will take his official visit to USC January 17th and his official visit to Georgia the following weekend. "Once he takes his trips, a lot of things are going to come to fruition," Allen said. "He'll have something to compare each school to, just to see how he fits in with the guys and what it's like to really be on campus, get a feel for the school in general." Allen said he talked with USC recruiter Grady Brown last week and with Georgia recruiter Chris Wilson Tuesday. He expects Green to make a relatively quick decision after the Georgia visit and not drag things out the Signing Day. "He's ready for this to be over with. As soon as he can make a clear cut decision, he'll probably tweet it out."

PK Article

UGA getting 2 visits is good for them as well as them getting the last visit. Although, he might just commit during our OV, who knows.

It's a month to National Signing Day and USC and Clemson are down to just a few spots to fill in their respective classes. The Gamecocks have 16 commitments at this point and may take another 4-6 in the class.

Here's a look at who is left on USC's board
1. DB DJ Smith of Marietta, GA will announce his choice January 13th and he's down to USC and Tennessee. Most feel he's a lean to the Gamecocks.
2. RB Derrell Scott, Havelock, NC…USC, Tennessee and NC State have been at the top. Florida also moved into consideration with a recent offers.
3. DL Dexter Wideman, Saluda…remains committed to FSU but won't make a final decision until after he takes his official visits to USC and FSU this month.
4. DL Arthur Williams, Fayetteville, NC…remains committed to FSU but will visit USC this month. Also will visit FSU and Ole Miss.
5. DL Darrius Caldwell, Pearl River JC, MS…USC is waiting on his spring grades to see if he can be offered. He would commit right away with a USC offer. Plans to visit Cincinnati and Memphis.
6. DL Poona Ford, Hilton Head…remains committed to Louisville but that's shaky after the coaching change. He still plans to visit there January 17th. After that visit he'll decide if he'll visit USC or stick with the Cardinals.
7. DE Andrew Williams, McDonough, GA…Plans to visit Clemson, Auburn and Ole Miss and USC is trying to get him in for a visit.
8. DE Kevin Bronson, Delray Beach, FL…Will visit USC, Virginia Tech and Florida this month. Has visited Rutgers.
9. DB Wesley Green, Lithonia, GA…Down to USC and Georgia and will visit each this month. Ole Miss is also a possible visit.
10. DB Chris Lammons, Ft. Lauderdale, FL…committed to Florida but may visit USC and is also considering Wisconsin.
11. OL Damian Prince, Forestville, MD….will visit USC this month along with Florida and Miami. He has visited Maryland and Florida State.
12. OL Derrick Kelly Jr…Formerly committed to Kentucky, he has visited Florida and will visit USC, LSU and Alabama.
13. WR Nate Brown, Suwanee, GA…committed to Missouri and USC is working him for a visit.
14. ATH Ra'Shaun Croney, Pahokee,FL…waiting on his test score and if he qualifies he plans to commit to USC. Indiana, Mississippi State and Florida Atlantic are also waiting on his score.
15. WR Isaiah Ford, Jacksonville, FL…former Louisville commit who is now considering USC and Virginia Tech. Has visited Tech and favors the Hokies. Plans to visit USC this month. Is also a basketball standout and will play both sports in college.

Surprised its Clemson and not UGA listed. Really hope we land Green.

Also read the other PK article on gogamecocks and was surprised to see Nate Brown's name. Highly unlikely at this point but would be a huge get imo as he brings the frame at WR we've been lacking since Alshon left

#1 JUCO WDE Darrius Caldwell still doesn't have a USC offer yet. He didn't make a high enough GPA in the fall that we felt we could get him through USC admissions. He still might just enroll at USC after this semester, but his situation is up in the air. He has other offers from schools with lower academic standards, so he may just pick one of those (Kind of like Vickers last year with Tennessee.)

If he can get in though, the coaches really want him as part of this incoming class.

Feeling pretty good about South Carolina flipping Chris Lammons via his tweets at the moment and the fact Florida landed Jalen Tabor today. On the other side of this, Tabor and Prince are good friends so I'm hoping this doesnt hurt our chances with Prince

Yep, he was Wes Green's recruiting Coach of note.

This couldn't do anything but work in our favor.

If the unlikely probability happens and Lammons, Green and Smith all want to come to USC, then I would take all 3, we are so thin at CB it would just be prudent and the numbers will work out. Plus Smith is big enough that he could play safety. Lammons rankings shot up this season, he had a great Sr year. All 3 of those guys are winners and takes in my opinion.

As far as the Tabor Prince connection, I don't think that will play a lot into it. I hadn't heard that they were connected before UF people started saying that today. Tabor was about to go to Zona a week ago. UF's emergence has everything to do with Mike Sherman being the new OL Coach.

Just saw that Prince said the Tabor decision will have no effect on his own and that is favorite recruiter is GA Mangus...I like our chances

Right on, that's what I was thinking (except I didn't know if the Mangus thing was still true now that Sherman was back in the picture.)
