You get that the next largest school in your state also uses the gamecock as a mascot, right retard?

It has nothing to do with an actual cock, like the ones you look at in Honcho Magazine. Its a reference to the nickname of Thomas Sumter. I could explain to you who he was. But I've probably hit you with too much to process for one night as it is.

South Carolina's mascot pays homage to General Thomas Sumter, who played a pivotal role in the Revolutionary War. He was nicknamed "The Gamecock" bc of his tenacity and willingness to fight till the death.

Coastal Carolina's mascot, a Chanticleer, is from Geoffrey Chaucer's "The Canterbury Tales." Coastal was originally a satellite campus of The University of South Carolina until the two parted ways in a not so civil break up. Their mascot was chosen to be similar to ours when we created the campus bc of them being an extension of USC.
