Give Caldwell the entire DL and go hire an ace recruiter and STs coach.

) Marion Hobby - This makes too much sense. Coached with a lot of these guys at Clemson and I'm sure has great relationships with all of them. Played for Chavis and Caldwell while at Tennessee. He was a major cog in the wheel of turning the defense around at Clemson, is a very good technical coach, and a good recruiter. Only issue is that it sounds like he just slow played South Carolina. Maybe he knew if he didn't take that job that USCe was going to hire Scott and he'd have the chance to reunite with his old buddies?

2) Brick Haley - Coach with Chavis at LSU and is now at Missouri with a stop at Texas in between. This guy gets me giddy too. His DLs at LSU with CJC were nasty. Chief said of Haley in 2013 that "there's not a better recruiter." The question? Would he leave a conference "rival" to reunite with his old boss again? If he was smart, I think the answer to that would be yes.

3) Brian Early - What a great young coach! He's an Arkansas boy, for those of you that those kinds of things matter to you. I wanted Early as soon as Chad got here over John Scott. That guy went out and found some dude's who were tweeners at stAte and really made their defensive line look scary good. I don't think he has any connections, and yes he just landed a new job at Houston, but Early would be a very safe choice and would jump at the opportunity.

4) Buddy Wyatt - Another guy I would have been fine with Morris bringing in over Scott. I think there are better options out there, but Wyatt is a veteran coach who has had some very good defensive lines and can recruit Texas with the best of 'em. Has continuity with Chad, the offensive staff, and Mark Smith but I don't think he and Chief have ever crossed paths on the same sideline. I think that Chavis will have a say in who he wants to hire. And maybe that guy is Wyatt, who knows? I'm not trying to poo-poo this guy as a potential replacement at all, but I really do think we have a few better choices.

Stole this from tardville, but it is a good list of coaches with their ties to this staff so it makes sense.

We've been begging Arkansas to hire a ST coach for years now. If it happened I'd have to assume I woke up in bizzarro world.
