As most of you know, the last and only time UGA played in the Rose Bowl was 1943. We ended up National Champions. Lots of legends on that team.
The UGA Library has color video of the pregame and game. It's stunning...

Game Film
Also, my buddy in Virginia's father found this newspaper clipping from the WaPo in the attic from the day after the game in 1943.
Washington Post Article
And lastly, here's the blurb about the 1942 Dawgs from Wikipedia...
"Georgia was the number two team in the nation behind number 1 Ohio State. The Western Conference, forerunner of the Big Ten Conference, did not permit their teams to play in bowl games until the 1946 agreement between the Big Ten and Pacific Coast Conference. The Bulldogs featured 1942 Heisman Trophy winner Frank Sinkwich, Maxwell Award winner Charley Trippi, and Jim Todd (Laurens, SC) backing up Trippi. The Bulldogs had been named national champions by the Berryman, DeVold, Houlgate, Litkenhous, Poling, and Williamson polls. Georgia had played their first bowl game the previous year, the 1942 Orange Bowl."

Wow just watched the game footage. UCLA bringing the wing in motion was some real West Coast Offense OG type of stuff.
They passed the ball a lot more than I thought they would. Going for it on 4th down. Did anybody notice UCLA stopped us on a 4th and goal during the second quarter and then literally punted the ball from their end zone the next play???
Anybody notice how the manager had all the helmets stringed together on the sideline during pre-game?
I do know I've waited all my life for a Rose Bowl game. Even my Dad didn't get to see it as he was too young to remember this game. Wish he was here to see it. This is a huge deal.

Wow Jack. This is the best thread I've ever seen on this board. Sinkwich and Trippi on the same field. Fantastic footage, the sky is so blue. Thank you sir, I really enjoyed it.

Glad you all liked it. I couldn't believe it when I saw it.
We held ucla to 5 first downs. Hope we have similar results this year!

I was at this game.
It was 1943, and it was Georgia’s first Rose Bowl.
I remember turning to my friend and saying, “Hey, where did the Allman Brothers go?”

Never let it go man, never let it go
To this day it's still the funniest thread I have ever read.

1. Did they play iron man football? There weren't that many dudes.
2. A lot of them were hot.
3. I like the standard "G" better than the Green Bay knockoff one.
4. Thank God they let black people play now.

Incredible. I wonder who all the movie stars signing autographs were.
