I grew up feeling like Tennessee was always the underdog. Everyone thought we were a bunch of illiterate, inbred hillbillies who couldn't help but fail. It made every victory that much better.

Somewhere in the early 2000s, we lost our way. People expected us to win and instead of over-achieving, we were, for lack of a stronger term, underwhelming. VOLS fans became entitled, our administration thought we were owed greatness, and we just collapsed under the weight of our own self-worth.

The last decade has been tough. Most of us still remember what it was like to be that underdog taking home a crystal football. We remember winning games that matter. We remember beating Bama most years. Some still act like this is owed us.

Well look at us now. This coaching search has made us into the ultimate underdog. No one gives us a chance. People are predicting that the Ole Miss death penalty is going to be better than what we have done to ourselves. You know what? I'm fricking excited! We got that dog in us. It's who we are, both culturally and as a fan base. frick all these sports media people. We're still going to play football, and we will win some games and when we do, I'm going to go scorched earth on tRANT.
