How do y'all feel about this pick for defensive coordinator?

I like it... I think.

If hired, I hope he can adapt to what UF has.

Having NTs Slaton and Conliffe will help but UF needs a few more.

I don't know if UF has enough LBs to run a 3-4.

Not elite, but not bad.

My issue is we don't really have the 3-4 personnel right now. Really weak at linebacker. Not really familiar with how his runs outside of the fact that it is high octane..which is exciting

Extremely aggressive defense, and likes to leave DBs on an island which bodes well considering the lock down guys we have outside.

It becomes more vital that we get those suspended linebackers back now.

Going to need coaches in his staff that can recruit.
X's and O's he's great, but it's a complicated system.

Any word on y'alls RB coach?
No troll. Seider(sp) just seems to have a promising future imo.

I just don't think it's possible that we let Seider go. He's been far too invaluable. He's a fan, player and recruit favorite.

Oh, and our best position on offense has been RB.

Well...I will try to forget sideline antics of him years ago.

3-4 just means 2 DEs as outside LBs when you boil it down. In todays modern college football schemes you usually don't employ more than 2 actual LBers because of nickel and dime packages to defend passing attacks or 2nd-3rd and longs. It is easy to cover up in goal line stands because you can add another DL or two.

I like to see hidden blitzs and catch the other team asleep at the wheel. Worse thing is a blitz that is picked up cause it usually means somebody is chasing a RB or WR down.

Thanks bud. He was a great hire. Y'all are the only folks I can get Gator info from, so thanks again. I'm glad we got Dell (thinking it was more knowing our recruiting area), but Seider's name came up, and I was very impressed. Good to see he's doing well.

Congrats on Mullen. Great hire and stability there.

He's been run out of UGA and Louisville so that's gotta be a little dicey. His system is complicated and he gets his calls in late which will frustrate the hell out of you watching your entire D stand their with their arms raised up wanting to know what's going on.

I will say that it looks like he has simplified his D some since MSU made some big gains this year and I didn't see them looking as confused as UGA's and Louisville's when he was there.

His defense seemed different at Ms State. I think you are right in it being less complex.

Complexity isn't a good thing in CFB. To many players coming and leaving and transfers, limited practice time, etc. You don't want simple necessarily, but nothing where players are always confused either.

I have hated his sorry arse ever since the UGA game when he gave the choke sign to Chas Henry I believe it was tied 31 to 31 and Chas was kicking a 51 yard field goal to win the game.

He a below average dc at best but to come here after that mess no way

Randy Shannon insulted Gator fans and Meyer after the game in 2008.

He isn't below average, that is insanely dumb and you are letting emotions get in the way of facts.

He is every bit as good as Collins was at Miss State, So we will be fine. Not the best in the business but Shannon was far, far worse.

I dont mind a DC getting into the moment and talking trash to throw a player off in that situation.

I doubt we go full 3-4 this year, more than likely a hybrid until we load up on LBs. either that ir convert some DE to Rush OLBs

Agreed. I think CECE goes but we have some smaller DE's that can fit the edge LB roles pretty well. As long as they aren't in coverage all that much. We need a lot more speed at Lber though. Reese is a good tackler but is slow as hell. Joesph couldn't cover if he was doing it to save his life but has a big hit stick. Just need a lot of talent at LBer. Hopefully we load up next year.

The throat cut thing was a little amateur, but I imagine that it wasn't about the Gators. He was a UGA coach, and it was a rivalry game. I imagine he is just competitive.
