The ‘79 Bama team held opponents to 5.6 ppg in 12 games, a modern era record. Through 12 this season the Dawgs could potentially do 6.08. Probably be somewhat higher than that at the end of the regular season but it’s pretty impressive given the complexities and effectiveness of modern offenses. ‘79 Bama team wouldn’t be nearly that stingy today.
