I’ll be the first to admit I’ve been adamant JT should be the guy when healthy and I’m not sure I can point to any one thing that Stet did last night to win me over, but he did. He’s got that calm swagger and I love it.

I think Truss coming in for Ericsson made this game easier on us. He just gets more umph in the run game and holds up well enough in pass protection. Ericsson does his best but he’s a center not a guard.

Sticking with the offensive line, if Broderick Jones continues to play well, I’d love to finally see Salyer at one of the guard spots where he can do some real road grading. Whether he supplants Truss or Schaffer is up to the coaches. That would help us both this year and next season when Jones is likely the full time guy.

Defense is the defense. Tennessee was good at what they do. We’re just better. Fun to watch. Glad none of the injuries seem too severe.

Edited to add I like Cook’s vision better than Zeus. Seems to do a better job keeping his head up and finding the hole. And then there’s his pass catching ability that really adds a dimension.

I have to wonder if Zeus is playing through a great deal of pain from some undisclosed injury. Some games he is on fire and others he just seems to be running at only about 80%. Cook, like Stetson Bennett, looks like a completely different player than he did a couple years ago. He has truly been developed. Any word on Milton's return?

I think we can win a Natty with either QB. Not worried which one is playing

This.
Zeus usually plows straight ahead into whatever is in front of him; often one of our OL. When there is a hole there he's definitely a punishing runner and can push the pile.
Cook has much better vision and can find a crease where doesn't seem to be one. He also a much better finesse runner and intuitively takes angles that maximize extra yardage potential. And yea, Cook is also and excellent receiver.

A little bit of “thunder” and “lightning “.. it does seem at times that Zeus is tip toeing waiting for a hole, and Cook finds the smallest crease. I like seeing Zeus late in the game, fresh, and just running through people!

I love Zeus, but it does seem like he doesn't handle high traffic/tight creases as well as Cook.

Zeus wants his head of steam, a good first hole, and then he'll get moving and grooving.

Cook can turn dirt into diamonds, which is valuable to have since teams like to sell out on the run against us. Cook is one of those dudes you just give the ball to in space (a little space or a lot of space, it doesn't matter) and you watch him go.

I am thrilled at our year so far. Our O is doing what they need to do and our D is fantastic... except, I think we are still vulnerable to the deep pass. It has popped up in every game... Even USC had chances that would have been TDs if they completed passes. I just hope we continue to improve because Bama and others will roast us if we don't.
