Next year will say a lot about the direction of both programs. I see every reason to believe UT has turned a corner and will at least be respectable. The degree of upside with Heupel is anyone's guess at this point but UT at least presents itself as well coached even with the personnel shortcomings.
Regarding Florida, I was surprised they fell in love with Mullen so much in the last coaching search. Felt like UF settled and they're certainly capable of attracting a better coach. I never really saw him winning championships there. He's been about what I expected, generally solid but there will be some down years. It seems like Mullen can't recruit the way Florida should.
UF will likely not endure the longevity of UT's drought or the depth of its valleys. However it's surprising to me how much they have fallen since Urban left. For the most part they've been a non-factor and the other East schools sans Georgia haven't been imposing at all.
