Are we all boilermakers this weekend?
Can they pull a third upset against a top 5 team?

They would essentially knock OSU out of the CFP....

That would give 2 loss Alabama a free Playoff slot. That's what the Playoff Committee will try to make happen.

A 2 loss Alabama that didn't win their conference isn't making the playoffs. I don't know how many times that needs to be said.

They will use the vegas approach, "Our job is to put the best 4 teams in the playoffs and frankily the handicappers in vegas cant find 3 other teams better than Bama."

They have literally never gone that route. All 7 years worth of data we have on how they operate shows us that they put in the best resumes/most deserving. If it was only "best teams" then they'd just go ahead and autobid bama in September of every year. Know how many 2 loss non champions have made the playoffs? Zero. And this year won't be the first.

Hope you are right but everyone but us may have two losses.

Doesn't matter how many times you say it. Bama made the Playoff once without playing in the SECCG. And they made the BCS once without even winning their division.
If we beat Alabama in a close game for the SEC title the Playoff Committee be pulling for ohio state and Oregon to lose. Why is unbeaten Oklahoma in 8th? Because they would be the biggest threat to keep Alabama out of the Playoff if we beat them.
If we beat Bama, they likely only drop to 4th.

Let’s just win and see how it plays out!

Not at all. It might give Cincinnati an easier path.
(We have to beat Alabama, first, though, because if they beat us in the SECCG they will go to the playoffs and we might go.
As it stands right now I can see:
Winner of SEC
Winner of BIG 10
Oregon
either Oklahoma or ND
in the playoffs. If chaos reigns in the Big 10 (purdue beating OSU and OSU beating Michigan and Michigan State) then I think Cincinnati gets in.
Ohio State still has to play Michigan and Michigan State back to back and I don't see them getting past both. (Penn State is capable of beating Michigan and/or Michigan State, too) I would not be surprised at all if all of the Big 10 schools end with 2 losses. They backload their big games heavily.
If they all lose 2 games each and the committee wants to keep Cincinnati out they could put
Oklahoma
ND
Georgia (if we beat Alabama)
Oregon
I think this would be a dream situation for us.

But they didn't have 2 losses. That is the point you are missing, I think.

Oklahoma nor Oregon will have two losses probably. There will be enormous pressure to put Cincinnati in if everyone else has two losses.

you really need to educate yourself on the topic because you clearly don't have a clue what you're talking about. The year you're referring to there were 2 teams vying for the 4th spot. Alabama was a non-champion that had 1 loss to the #2 team in the country. Ohio state was a P5 champion but had 2 losses including one of the most embarrasing of the year, losing by 30 points to an unranked team. Dullards continue to spout some sort of "bama bias" conspiracy without actually looking at the situation from a rational/logical persepctive. If OSU doesn't lose to Iowa they are in, if you want to blame anyone for 2017 blame OSU not alabama.

who cares? We're a month away from this mattering. If OU wins the big 12 even WITH a loss they are in.

how bout we make a permaban bet on it?
