Montgomery (Ala.) St. James School four-star quarterback KJ Jackson announced his commitment to Arkansas on Easter Sunday, a strong pickup for head coach Sam Pittman and his staff in the 2024 cycle.

Jackson also strongly considered North Carolina among others.

"When picking a college I really wanted somewhere that felt like home," Jackson told 247Sports. "Coach Pitt and Coach (Dan) Enos both made it the priority to make me feel at home. Also, being able to play under a coach like Coach Enos with 13 quarterbacks in the NFL is an opportunity that is hard to pass up."

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Jackson is tabbed by 247Sports as the nation's No. 17 quarterback. In leading his team to a state championship as a junior he threw for 2,809 yards and 42 touchdowns, completing over 67 percent of his passes.

Things picked up fast with Arkansas who offered in February. He loved his experience in Fayetteville and the culture of the program.

"The excitement they have at practice," Jackson said. "Saw nothing but guys pushing each other in the quarterback room and in the rest of the position groups. I feel like everyone has bought into the coaches there completely.

Jackson is commit No. 5 for Arkansas in the 2024 cycle pushing the Razorbacks up to No. 2o in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings at this point in the cycle. He looks forward to playing for Pittman.

"The way he pushes everyone down from the starters to the walk ons," Jackson said of what stands out. "He has gotten everyone to buy in and has done many things for his players that others won’t do."
