Problem is using current degree numbers VS a reasonable age to be able to be a head coach. In 2010, non-Hispanic whites were at 33.2% with a bachelors, while it was 19.8% for black people.

I was using a very simplistic stat model, mostly because the math involved for the following would get a bit crazy:

1. The Average Age of a Head Coach
2. % of population with a sufficient degree
3. % of population with a preferred degree (Masters)
4. Number of people meeting the above criteria that played collegiate football (in conjunction with the percentage of head coaches that played football - I presume very high)
5. Number of coordinators currently employed that are African American vs Caucasian (to look at potential future prospects)
6. Coaching demographics at lower levels of NCAA football and how often those coaches make the leap to FBS.

At the end of the day, one could surmise that the number of individuals with a college degree AND collegiate playing experience will be mostly African American, as they make up 53.4% of current players (Caucasians make up 41.4%, with Pacific Islander, Latino and Other rounding it out). That % may not be large enough to account for other factors (like leaving early to go pro, dropping out [and not looking up the rates for either at this time], etc), but it is a pretty hefty difference. That's FBS though, so players at other levels might see those demographics change sharply.
